I was just told by one of my favorite guitarists that he uses a Sansamp Para Driver here on his live rig. I didn't get a chance to ask him the purpose of the pedal, and after looking at the description of the product on musicansfriend, I still don't get it. Isn't this a DI box just used in recording?

What would be the purpose of having this pedal as part of your live rig?

Regular Sansamp with sweepable tone controls. The rest is just marketing.

It just looks like an Active DI with Tone controlls and since it is active it can also act as a preamp to give you a Boost in Volume/Gain......

This type pedal is often used by acoustic-electric players to get the "piezo" out of their sound. They can definitely make playing an acoustic-electric live a pleasure for you and your audience.
