Hey dude! Remember my sorry ass? Well, I remember yours and it was nice to find the time and motivation to listen to your song.

Per usual, I spout the subjective slurry of arrangment preferance and half cocked mix "advice" so...........here it is.

First off, you had to nail some frequencies to muss up my comp desk so much. When I clicked play, I had my ashtray bouncing and spitting its contents at me and all my papers were vibrated to the floor! If you had a little more bass, which I think you could and should squeeze out of your e.q., my monitor would be on my lap:D

I liked the lyrics ( I peeked at them on another post cause they caught my ear). Cool rhyming and melody changes throughout.

NIce solo git to guide the change around 1:30 but I thought you could have come out of it a little more subtley (there I go with arrangment advice. DAMN ME!!)

Vox up on the double time drum part that comes next. I did hear vox didn't I:confused: .

The exit sounded familiar ( a tad like "the beast"??;) ?) Not a bad thing at all. Just an observation.

It was really nice to hear a song from your head again. I hope to frequent the clinic more than my late ratio of never.

Peace and send word on all fronts,

Theron.

yo, Peace Theron!!

good to see ya around here again, bro :D Now, where's King Elvis?

good to see ya around here again, bro Now, where's King Elvis?

Wow!!

Nice to know you (or anyone for that matter) remembers me:D As for "King", we aren't room mates or even drunken email buddies so your guess is as good as law!!

Hey..... dont mean to step on your thread Sam.......... you deserve a bump anyway:)
.........just wanted to say welcome back to Theron.
............missed ya man

It's got all the elements, but overall, it doesn't have what the others I've listened to have got. It's got all the moves, all the sounds, all the changes, but it's not its own song. It gets better after the big change 1/3 in, but it's way too changeable to capitalize on that.

Oh, fuck, this is coming across as way too negative. I don't want to do that, because I think you're a great arranger and musician and recordist, and I want you to keep doing this stuff. Look, I've got two files for every season of my musical life. In the first one go all the songs that make it. Into the second one go all the songs that I thought were good songs at first (because I was so involved with them) but which, after a month or two, I realize aren't deathless art after all).

This one would find its way into the second file after a couple of months, if it was mine.

I'm looking forward to what you keep posting here. You do interesting stuff, first and foremost. :)

Hey brah... noticed you uploaded "A Splitting Headache" to NWR last night (from the front page) and D/L'ed it...

Did you change it? That's some real creative stuff... maybe your most creative composition... the bendy, slide-y string stuff is awesome. The song rawks too.

Thumbs up (all 9 of em :p)

theron - good to see ya Lee! Your opinions about the bass frequencies are shared by many.. thanks for checkin'! Check your p.m.'s.. :)

dobro - always nice to hear your thoughts.. I agree with you, and I was sure this wasn't going to be anyones favorite or anything.. I just go with the flow.. I was pretty surprised at the end because I wrote the parts as I was recording them.. I probably should have made the mellower section its own entity, but by the time I came up with it, it was too late.. This one might make it to folder 2 soon.. :) I appreciate the comments man..

participant - hey Chad, I took 'a splitting headache' off the page, but then I realized that someone gave me a review on Nowhere for it, so I figured I would keep it up there.. It's probably the best tune I ever wrote.. That was the last song I recorded with my 4 track Sony mini-disc.. All the guitar was through the Pod Pro on that one.. thanks for checkin that one out.. I tried to re-do it once, but I couldn't get it to sound any better..

cool!

Very cool sound here. I like the dissonance of it. Nice vocals that mix in well with the instruments, although I couldn't understand many of the words. There is still a cool effect there, however.

Nice playing throughout and I like the change at the 1:30 mark.

I guess the only feedback I may have may be to raise the vocals just a tad, but at the same time, they sound almost like another instrument when mixed kind of low like that and make a neat effect (of course, this could just be how it sounds on my cheap speakers...)

Nice job! :)

man, this tune jams hard!!!!!!!!!! im all over that break at 2:15ish!! that intro..........you had to be on plumbers crack:D
i loved it!! wild in the right sense! i dont know how you do it, man.

hmmmmmm.....man, it's prolly my feeble ears, but i thought i heard a clip on the word "some" at 1:46ish:confused: a total nit pick, but im trying to train these damn ears!!! 99% sure im wrong? it could be a distortion effect you are using? but i dont hear anything that sounds like that, anywhere else.

just JAM!!!

thanks, man

peace
