Would getting a MOTU be sufficient as my soundcard? Would I still need to get some sort of a mixer? I'm already running Cakewalk, so if I get a MOTU, would I be good to go?

Doesn't the MUTO have multiple inputs ?? If so, you may be able to skip the mixer.

Yeah, but also, the ones I'm looking at, they don't have ANY XLR ins/outs. How would I record the mics? (I wouldn't want to get a converter to degrade the tone). Also, the 896 only has XLR, so how would I connect that w/ a mixer?

MOTU support SUCKS for Windows. I will never buy anything from them again.

Yeah, motu makes some good computer interfaces but if your using a pc than you will have to buy seperate software.I wish they would include software for pc's like they do for macs.

been using a MOTU 2408 on a PC for a while now and it runs fine in XP, prior to that was fine in 98.

never relied on manufacturer support for anything so cant comment on their level of aftercare...just balancing the viewpoints.
