word of warning-the vocals get way loud near the end of the tune

why?

:D :D :D

That does Im going to go watch tv for the rest of Saturday Night!

I mean this is the nicest way dude but you cannot sing.LOL.You might wanna get someone else to do the vocals on your demos.Guitar sounds a little out of tune also.....not a big deal though. This would sound a lot better if the vocals were done at least by an amateur singer...I can see you're just doing this for the fun of it and nothing more.Thats the most important thing but dude you cannot sing in tune.LOL.

Have fun recording dude!:)

why?

because i have not mastered the art of mixing ????

I can see you're just doing this for the fun of it and nothing more.

having fun is what its all about...isn't it?

dude you cannot sing in tune

seeing some of american idol was given me the courage to try and sing...i know i can sing better than some of those that they had on the best of the worse....

but...is there no hope for me at all?

ahh well...

never give up...keep practising.

I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination but, here's a story about a guy who couldn't sing. And the first time I heard him I thought I was going to die.

This guy ran a little pub ( I think he still does ), and for entertainment, he had a little kereokee show that he let his patrons run. (way cool, but scary)

Anyhow, he used to get up there and sing sometimes, I swear to god every note was out of tune. It was probably the most horrible thing I had ever heard. After a certain period of time had passed I moved out of the area and didn't frequent that bar anymore. One day, I went back there, (about a year or so later) and that same guy scared the shit out of me by singing the same old songs he used to, except every note was actually in tune with something. I'm not saying he was great by any stretch, but definately a huge improvement. I had really thought originally there was no hope, but here I was wrong.

like he said, the main thing is having fun. As long as you are then no worries, just keep practising...lots...and lots. I am sure you yourself will notice an improvement over time.

From my point of view I can't sing a part to the rest of the music for the life of me. I like to think I can sing in tune, but my vocals always clash or just plain don't fit. In that regard, my parts don't go together, yours do.

practise practise practise.

The vocals are a bit rough! But they won't get better unless you pracitce! So just keep working at it. I think there is quality to your voice....it's just being in tune and your inflections. The recording is very good. Nice and clean. Perhaps a little more bass drum. And you really should put your guitar through a tuner before you record. How old a guy are you? Keep working at it! The solo was a bit out of key as well. Work on your ear, man. Learn to tell when you're out of tune. Keep at it and keep posting so we can hear your progress.

Hey Mr. Vader,

Being a Bob Dylan fan, I really don't mind the singing at all. Your vocal style is quite unique to say the least, but the music is very well written (well, except for the guitar part being out of tune). Then again, maybe that was your intention.

God knows my vocals aren't the greatest. One of these days, I'm going to do a Dylan cover. In the meantime, let's keep practising our vocals.

I like the way you started the tune and the way you ended it. Very fun.

your get'n some fine tuning done on your mixing in this one. This was an eerie tune :)
I gotta admit you got more balls than me when it comes to singing. Id probably just red the words. Keep em coming! :)

thanks for all the encouraging words...i will keep practicing my singing...i dont know...i am so tone deaf i dont know if there is hope

the thing is..i do believe i did tune the guitar before i recorded it, i usually do..i think i may have intonation problems ?..maybe i need to put new strings on it?

Being a Bob Dylan fan, I really don't mind the singing at all.

:) too bad i dont have the lyrical prowess that bob has to make up for my lack of vocals

anyhow....i will try my best to sing in tune next time...if i do...then i post the tune...until then

peace out..

"you're starting to smell bad..." That was funny.

And you're right, some of the freaks on American Idol were far worse. Having said that, keep practicing the finer points of vocals. There's no doubt they'll improve. It's not nearly as bad as you think. Have fun...

this song is hilarious. i was lol nearly the whole time it played. i think the sort of "rough around the edges" on the vox and guitars is 2ndary, if not quite fitting, for the tone of the lyrics.

the drums sound pretty darn good. how'd you record the snare.

your voice has a really nice tone. work on the pitch issues and you'll be a really "killer" singer.

Cool song, moves along nicely, some good changes. The guitars are way more in tune this time if I'm remembering your last tune right. It's kind of a drag that everything is panned straight down the center, but the balance is pretty good.

Dude you've got to be putting us on with some of that singing.

Most of the singing is in tune (in a loose sort of way) and well phrased for this style IMO. But when you land on a note it sounds like you're going out of your way to slide off key.

"I can feel it in her bones that she wants to break up"
lol

A++ on the lyrics, classic

not intentional i assure you

yeah..i am still learning the ways of mixing...plus i think i lose the ability to pan anything when i record it onto my PC to make an mp3 for it....i have a stereo out to a 1/8 inch plug...i need to updat my soundcard

how'd you record the snare.

just one SM57..this song i tried it as an overhead for the first time

i usually have it in front of me..about a foot a way, right above the bass drum..that way i got a halfway decent bass drum sound..but could barely hear the snare and cymbals and stuff...this time i can barely hear the bass

time to pick up another SM57 i guess

thanks to all for the encouraging words....really gives me the confidence to practice my voice

FUCKIN rOCK AND rOLL MAN!!!!!!!

ummm....thanks....i guess

Lady Cadaver is a good play on words. I thought you were singing Lady Godiva until I looked at the title. That was a good one.

Yeah there is a bit of pitchiness in the vocals. Somebody recommended practice. I'd concur - it's certainly not going to make things worse ya know?

I thought the guitar lacked mids and highs. Not much presence to it. I'd retrack that with a brighter tone.

There sounded like some weirdness with the drums at 2:35. Drums sounded nice though.

Sounded like you were coughing something up at 2:40.

My thoughts....

Practice makes perfect right? Well you got some practice so good for you.

"my friends don't understand why I smell like mold"

That's a good line! neither do mine.. :)

compress the vocals so they don't peak at recording time.. tune your guitar to a synth or something.. you probably have to get it intonated.. as mentioned, learn to hear when your out.. if necessary, use a synth as a reference point for everything.. even vocals.. start the tune from scratch just for the fun of it, and refer back to some of these comments as your recording it.. keep at it!
