What is a good condenser mic over 1000 dollars for recording vocals for dance music

Dance music. For a thousand dollars?

You you maybe like to rephrase this question?

..fighting the urge to ask

umm fast dance? Or 'girl's choice?

ooooooooooooooo I hope it's ladies choice! I've had my eye on that redhead all night long!

This one is One Million Dollars........

I've got one without the crap for 300

I'd be interested to ask who has the $1000 voice?

Waste of money?

Hey...if Donna Summer was going to sing to some dance music...I would put up my $2k mic for her.... :D

I assume we are talking about disco dance music. ;)

OK. They don't love dance music, and they don't think you have the experience to get any benefit from a $1000 mic. They are almost certainly right. Or- you are an alias yanking our chains. I'll take the chance that you aren't and answer the question.
First, just about any large diaphragm directional or multi-pattern condenser mic by Neumann. Here are a few examples:

Neumann U 87 Ai Set Z (Nickel w/Shockmount) | Sweetwater.com
Neumann TLM 49 | Sweetwater.com
Neumann M 149 Tube | Sweetwater.com
Neumann TLM 193 | Sweetwater.com
Neumann M 150 Tube | Sweetwater.com
Neumann M 147 | Sweetwater.com
Neumann U 89I | Sweetwater.com
Neumann TLM 67 Set Z | Sweetwater.com

or, of course, any of these:

Mercenary Audio - Large Diaphram Condenser Microphones (Brauner VMA, Valvet, VMX, VMXlite, VM1, VM1lite and VM1S, Horch RM2J, Microtech Gefell UM900, UM92.1s, M92.1s, M990 and Manley Gold Reference Microphones)

or these:

Mercenary Audio - Large Diaphram FET Condenser Microphones (Brauner Phantom V, Phantom Anniversary Edition and Phanthera, Microtech Gefell UMT800, M930, UMT70s, MT71s, M900, M910 and T.H.E. KR-25A and KR-33A capsules)

Personally, I like this:

Here's the deal: When you can confidently state that you know the real differences between the mics above, and what it is that would make an audio engineer in his right mind pay that much for a mic, you might be ready to shell out $1000+ for a mic. Bro, I can tell you exactly where to buy a heart-lung machine, but that doesn't mean you can then do a heart transplant. Unless you have the room, the preamp, the A-D conversion, *the ears*, and the experience to use such a mic, you might as well be singing into Mr. Microphone. Until you can convince anybody here that you need a $1,000 microphone, we may suggest more affordable learning tools, or, like the folks above, we may just make fun of you, but- most folks here will not tell you how to waste your money. If you really want help, tell us what you already have, what kind of room you have to do it in, exactly what you are trying to do, who's going to be singing into this mic, what your experience is, and what you don't like about the results you're getting from the equipment you are using right now. Give up the idea that just using a cool mic will make you (or anybody else) sound good. There is a hell of a lot more to it.-Richie

I'm not trying to bust your balls, but if I were you, I'd seriously work on your drum and keyboard sounds before throwing any more money into capturing your voice. The weak link in that recording is NOT the vocal sound.

Good luck.

@chrisharris yep...

but in general, have a look at lewitts lct 640, they are giving one away in the moment... check lewitt-audio.com/contest - and if you win it, give me the 1k$! ;)

But you have to have a Facebook account to enter. :(

we are all musicians 2.0 are'nt we? :)

Nope - I'm not a musician at all - I'm a recording engineer.

Musicians listen differently and it's because I'm not a musician that I can be a better recordist. :D :drunk:
