A good complimentary mic to the ATM25?

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good low end mic to add to my collection.
I have a limited number of mics but the one I use for kick and bass guitar is an Audio Technica ATM 25. Since I need to track bass and kick simultaneously, I need to pick up another bass freq. mics.

I was trying to find another good lowend mic that would be a little different so that I can choose between the two in other situations. It's always nice to have a choice!

The ones I have checked out a bit is the D112 and the Beta (56?) I can't seem to be able to describe the difference between these two. Perhaps there is aother contender that I am not considering...

you might wanna consider getting a nice direct box with your $$$ for recording bass.....maybe a Johnson J-Station or a CountrymanDI......
 
Funny - I just had the same situation. Ended up complimenting my ATM25 with a Sennheiser E602. It's completely different from the ATM25, which is why I got it! Much more "click" on the kick drum -

So, it's a nice option. I'll use the ATM25 on certain kick drums, and almost all bass cabs. Haven't really tried the 602 on a bass cab, doubt it would be great due to the eq curve of the 602...

Although, if you're happy with the ATM15 on kick drrums, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a second one for bass cabs! Love it on bass cabs!
 
i just used a friend's beta 52 on a track (kinda heavy music with big contemporary kick sound) and it sounded damn good at 189.00 new.
 
thats about the going price....the ATM 25 PRO usually goes for cheaper......
 
personally

i would go for a CAD mic to compliment it- e100, e300, or the m39 thingy.

CAD for deep tight, ATM 25 for punchy.
