The playin' and singin' ain't bad. The sound quality of your recordings need help. There's too much background noise, and it sounds like it was recorded in a room with four bare walls. You need some room treatment to kill all the reflections you're getting.

Haha, it's interesting to see how accurate you are. I don't know how you figure that out. Unfortunately my situation on where I record can't be dealt with at the time. I record on a desktop which is stationed in an office and moving my setup would require moving the office.

Is there anything I've done particularly well? Something I should avoid? Do any tracks stand out? Any that are garbage? I'm super critical of myself but I never know what to be critical of. haha. Let me knowww.

I don't think you need to move the office. If you can fix the acoustics in the office, it would help immensely. DIY bass traps are cheap and easy to make. They would make a world of difference to your sound. Also, there seems to be a lot of preamp hiss. Ideally, you should record your tracks so they hit your AD converters at around -18 dbfs rms level with peaks never above around -8 dbfs. This will be a good balance between recording too hot and clipping, vs. poor signal to noise ratio. Sounds like yours were recorded a little low.

I agree. Some of these are better than others, but it sounds like you recorded those at the bottom of a well. You really need to get some bass traps in there as well as some sort of broadband absorber. All you can do other than that is put the microphone closer to your mouth and closer to the guitar. That way you will get more direct sounds and less reflection.

I think if you are going to double track and hard pan your vocals like that, they need to be tighter together. It was kind of distracting to hear them break apart. Double tracking vocals certainly isn't easy.

There is some good playing on here though, and some good creativity going on as well.

Out of curiosity, what kind of mics/ pres did you use? It kinda sounded like you used a dynamic.

Hahaha. I feel so in the dark. "broadband absorber" "AD converters" "dbfs rms level"? I'm not quite sure what much of that means..

As far as bass traps, I looked up how to make your own and that seems like a piece of cake. I'll totally do that.

And as far as equipment goes. I record on a Zoom H2 Handy Recorder.
