rock guy
So hey guys, I haven't posted my recordings here in forever...and i've acquired a bunch of new stuff recently so I figured i'd throw some stuff, and you guys could tell me what ya think? keep in mind even though i've been recording for years im just an amateur with a studio basement lol.

So, I bought my buddies Marshall JCM2000 dsl100. Got a 1960 4x12 slanted cab. I also bought his Samson 8 track mixer, and 3 AKG mics. I've got a shure sm57 and some cheap nady that i use as a tom mic. So that's my basic setup...

So here, I recorded the following: (i know, a lot of the playing is sloppy...i dont like doing 2nd takes lol i'm very impatient )

Lay Down (Priestess Cover):

Testify (Rage Against the Machine Cover):

Know Your Enemy (Rage Against the Machine Cover):

then some originals (im bad at making up names)
March_1_Metal:

March_1_Funk:

Rockzilla 2k8:

What Is This:

so what do ya think? basically the NEWEST ones are lay down, testify, know your enemy, metal and funk. rockzilla and what is this are from january, and i've gotten a better drum sound since...rockzilla is the JCM as well though too. I record by micing everything, even bass (i mix straight out from GK head and mic the 4x15 cab with an AKG just for like presence) so i mean i don't know, i think it's gotten better than what it used to be! Figured i'd just show ya all!

OK...

I'm not into covers, so listened them originals.

Yep, still think the Funk seems the best. IMHO.
Very nice bass sound! ..well played too!..bass slightly burying the drums perhaps?.. maybe more definition in the kick. Cymbals sound nice, clear and transparent.

Guitarsounds are cool too, playing ok too for first-takes.:D

...I just think there's a bit too much repetition in all of them songs.. I'd like more variation. but IMO YMMV and all that -matter of taste- stuff...

:D thanks! i've got to figure out howto mix drums efficiently...my problem is i run 5 mics into a mixer, then a mono out into the mic jack on my laptop, so its not really the BEST of quality, which sucks. plus, i cant adjust levels after theyre recorded, which really sucks :( but i'm gettin a bit better with it i believe! and thanks for the compliment of the basstone, i love that deep growl of the G&L with both humbuckers on and the tone all the way down! :-D
