A ducking gate with side chain capabiltiies!!!!!!

hey all.

So what i am trying to do is remove the kick drum from my snare bottom mic.

the way i am trying do this is by placing a gate on my snare track and triggering it from the kick track but for this to work i need it to be ducking. (gate always open unless the kick drum kicks and closes the gate)

i have searched the net and the only thing i can find does not work as a lot of gate plugins i find dont have a ducking mode.

does any one have a plugin suggestion that may work? (that is before i buy the cakewalk ones that may not work in cubse?)

also before everyone tells me to just use a comp i have tried a comp but i cant get the desired outcome!!

That is a link to Reaper's suite of plugs not Reaper itself....you can use their VST's in any host.

What I do is to trigger the bottom snare mic from the top snare mic, that way you guarantee that the bottom snare mic is always open when the snare is hit, I don't always gate the top mic it depends on what snare sound I am after. I find that the bottom snare mic gate time can be quite short and still give you plenty of snare.

The other thing is to shelve the lows on the bottom mic, this will reduce the kick sound in the bottom mic without effecting the snare sound.
