I'm thinking of getting the 8-ball. Any reviews or previous experience?

I stopped doin 8 balls years ago. I stick to the green now. Sorry just had to. Everything I've heard and owned by blue has been great the only thing thats really appealing to me about this mic is that fact that its a condensor certainly blues bottom of the line condensor but like I said I can't imagine anything from blue being terrible and for 200 bucks I think its worth the risk. But thats just my opinion.

i have a blue ball and it blows. my buddy has the 8 ball and from what ive heard him record through it, it kinda sucks as well. for the price of those things mxl has a far better line of mics.

A couple of weeks ago I brought a bunch of mics home from a local store to test in stereo pairs with the understanding that I would buy the two I liked best. The salesman insisted that I take two 8-balls along for the test. After completing the test, I can honestly say that the 8-ball is the worst sounding mic I've ever heard in my life, bar none. The ones I tried sounded like they had a hi-pass filter on them set to about 800hz. No wonder the store was so anxious to unload them.

I like mine on nothing except drum OH's. And even then they are a pain to place.
