Im trying to figure out how to make the 788 a slave to pro tools.
I have pro tools 6.1 le running on a mac g4.
Help if you can.
Thank you

That could be a sweet set-up...

What exactly is the issue?

I'd just use the 788 as an outboard mixer for the mac, forget about using the cassette tape for warmth or coldth or darkth of night. Line Out into the Line In and viola! Digital Schmigital!

The Tascam 788 is not a cassette based machine. It is a digital machine which records to a hard drive.

And as far as slaving it to ProTools, doesn't ProTools allow you to set a project tempo before, after or during the tracking process? The fastest way would be to just take the tracks 'wild' --- meaning no time code reference at all --- then set the tempo after you have all the tracks in ProTools. You should be able to zoom in enough to allow the bar markers to be a guide. If you are going to be printing further tracks alongside the 788 tracks it will need to be more precise than if you're just doing a mixdown...

finster-
i gave you a reply on the LE forum...check that out.

And DON'T DOUBLE.....um....wait a sec, would this still be considered double posting?? hahahah :p :D
