Hey guys, I just upgraded to Pro Tools 7.4 and the upgraded CS2. I was wondering (because I CANNOT see any differences really...) if it takes up more processor usage than 7.3.1? I try to run sessions that I used to run fine that won't run without me shutting off EVERYTHING before running PT now. Does it take more now? Just curious guys, thanks alot!:)

7.4 has Elastic Audio, which sucks up additional cpu power. I found I had to make sure all my Elastic Audio was shut off on each track. What are your RAM and CPU specs?

Me too....I'm in the middle of a session with only about 6 tracks and a few plugins and I keep getting messages that I need to eleminate some RTAS. Granted it's when I use a delay puglin mostly but I don't know what will happen with a session with a more average number of tracks.

Oh but I'm running LE 7.1.

While I haven't played with elastic audio as yet, I did find that upgrading my memory helped immensely with 7.4. I'm running the PC version with 2G RAM now and all glitch issues have subsided. I haven't really had problems with the CPU usage because I prefer to keep the effects and add-ons pretty light.

Yeah, 2 GB RAM here and no such issues, even running 28 tracks with multiple plug ins.

i first tried 7.4 cs2 on leopard and found it to be underpowered,

honestly, i put this down to the fact that it isn't officially supported yet,

do you guys think there's any chance that the sluggishness was down to things like elastic audio??

i didn't even bother to research things like that, cos really, i wasn't even expecting protools to open in leopard,,,,so it was a 'nothing lost' situation.

thanks :)
