5881/6l6 ???

How do folks,
Anybody know the difference between a 6L6 and a 5881/6L6 ? While troubleshooting my sons 10 watt Epiphone amp, I discovered that it's powered by a single 5881/6L6. I've searched and googled but can't seem to find any info.

Most of the newer 5881s are really just a 6L6 in a stubby bottle. NOS tubes are a different story. The Tung Sol 5881 is the holy grail, and it is not a 6L6.

Does the stubby bottle make them hotter or colder? Is the bias different? Are the pins the same and are they interchangeable?
Is there a "holy grail" of 5881/6L6s?
I have no experience with them,
