424mkIII vs vs840ex? Need to decide!

Hi folks.
I just got to decide for eathier machine. I think that due to the mixer section with 4 balanced XLR preAmps and how cheap is the tape I'm leaning towards the 424. I have a sound card which I can convert at up to 96khz and 20 bits. So non linear editing and mixdown will be a snap (Cool Edit). How ever the all in one layout of the 840EX is very appealing plus all those effects like Bass and Acoustic Simulations that are not found in CoolEdit Pro.
Does any of you went thru a similar decision when acquiring the 424??? Any Suggestions???

Well, you know, that's a really hard comparison to make.

Actually, I don't know enough about the VS840EX, so I can't comment on it directly, but I think the 424mkIII is a great machine. I like the 4-track cassette format.
