424 flutter

Hi, I found an old 424 in a pawn shop for 50 bucks, so I took a chance on it. Everything works ok except the transport seems to be worn. It flutters a bit on playback. Might this be a worn pinch roller and if so can I buy one? I have cleaned it with rubber cleaner. Any ideas??

great buy on the 424 you got lucky.
You may be right about the pinch roller.
If you can install it yourself replace it if not, see the repairman. where to get a new one?
try some local repair shops they may have one if not contact Roland corp.

Have you cleaned the heads with head cleaner?
Did you demagnatize the heads? magnatized heads can cause lots of woooo and flutter.

Thanks for the reply jimimac. I have cleaned the heads and old pinch roller. I havent demagnetized yet. Picked up a pinch roller today at local electronic store. Helped some but still a little wow in it. I think you are on to something on the demag thing. Will pick one up tommorrow and give it a try. thanks a again for the reply.
