Hello, I just joined to ask this question: I have bought a technics RS-1700 reel to reel, which was in storage for a long time. It generally works fine, but… it has flutter on new recordings only! That is, playback of old recordings is fine. I tried cleaning and tried different tapes. No change.
I don’t understand what this could be - can’t really be electronic, or? And if the physical capstan, belt, rollers had an issue, wouldn’t that also be impacting playback?
Any idea?
