There's a shop here in London's West End that sells things for left handed people like pens and scissors ! I wish I'd thought of that !

I write with my left hand , but my right hand is much faster and more intuitive than my left when playing keyboards. I think it's to do with which half of the brain you're using. Writing is logical/sequential which is the province of the left brain (which controls the right hand) whereas music, for me at least, is holistic, which is more right brain. Some people have the two halves swopped over, and I think I'm one of them, so my right brain, which is the more musical half, controls my right hand. Hey but you can train your brain to do anything, which is probably simpler in the long run than creating wierd keyboard permutations to suit your perceived abilities.

Back on topic, kind of...

My son is left-handed and I bought him a right handed guitar. He's not too interested in learning to play, could this be a reason why? Or is it just the age thing - he's 10. He says he wants to learn, but doesn't put any effort into practicing even when I'm sitting with him to help. I'm wondering if he is uncomfortable with the guitar and he should switch to a lefty.

What's your thought? Or any other lefty's out there....

You know Chili .....10 was about the time I started to buckle down and learn how to play apposed to knowing what I was suppose to be playing. I knew the chords the names of the strings and what the notes were at every fret. Be sure your son has all of that under his belt.

Then one day I got sick enough to put me out of school for about two weeks and had nothing else to do but practice and got a lot better and faster then moved right on to power cords (bar cords) and the rest is history.

Then what really moved me next was having friends at school that I could jam with ~ brought me to an other level.

So I'm defiantly going to say it's an age thing Chili ..... the spark will come to him in it's own time. Just be sure that your ready!

I have seven children (only one south paw and she play right handed) that all play different instruments and the youngest one who is 10 is the only one that doesn't play as yet. Though I think he may turn out to be the drummer of the family.

Hendrix was a lefty that played a right hander but it might be good to get your son a left handed guitar.

is pretty solid. Some kids hit the ground running early and carry on for ever, some hit the ground running and burn out/lose interest/discover the opposite sex, 'cool', cigarettes or whatever, some leave the instrument and find another, some go and years later return........then there are those that are late developers or that just don't want to practice for a variety of reasons. Many of them will just peter out and fifty years later say "Oh, I learned such and such as a child" and many of them will "suddenly" be inspired and really apply themselves and become professional musicians, music teachers, philharmonic orchestrators or join Home recording. com ! It's impossible to predict. Hope and encourage for the best, prepare for and be tolerant of the worst......

I know ! That's why I wish I'd thought of it. After much explanation, I can grasp the idea of the left handed cheque book {not that many use cheque books much nowadays}, but not the mouse or the pen. Groovy business idea. Some people will buy anything !
