So I have several 3630's lying around. The system is actuall called a dual channel compressor/limiter. So I understand the compression side of the equation. But what about the limiter side? How do you use it, is it something totally different than compression? Just wondering, I didnt know much about the unit or limiting. This probably should go to the newbies forum.

Just turn the Ratio control up past 10:1 and you've pretty much got limiting.

Thanks mark, u da man. So I can use this in finilization, or do you think the 3630 is too noisy?

If it works for you, great! But it really doesn't have a good reputation....

I, for one, can't stand them!

It probably wont work out for me, I am just too dang cheap to buy a decent compressor. Too busy paing these stupid bills that keep appearing in my mail box.

Yo' JB, refer to my various Behringer threads in the "RACK FORUM"!!

BTW, you can achieve some wierd efx using the 3630 on bass!

Basically thats what I have been using them for. Just to keep the bass and sometimes the snare under control.

I had already looked at this article. Have you done that? I was thinking of trying it out.

I have not. I haven't owned a 3630 in many years. I'm willing to bet that it would be a noticable improvement though.

Can I get the parts needed from radio shack? That is about the only place I can think of near me.

You can get most electrical components at Digikey.com. They are probably cheaper than rat shack too.

So digikey has the burr brown op amps, but they dont list the 2180 vca's. Where can I find them at?
