MadMax said:Dunno about that. He sounded pretty bad through a '67 Fender Strat thru Plexi Marshalls.
The sound quality on those old Hendrix recordings sucked ass by today's standards. I don't think ANY kind of compressor would have made much difference back then.

I listened to the track from Ford Van....couldn't tell which track had the 3630 but I can say whatever chain/comp was used on the lead vox I didn't like...the levels were great and the mix very balanced and nice and wide..but the vox track sounds "dead"..could be the mp3 robbing the high end..I own a 3630 (recently modded tho..) and I use it when I have to...but when I compare it to my 1176 LN it is laughable and I wish I had a bunch of 76's...of course the 3630 is a vca based comp and I haven't found too many of those I like anyway.

SLAM??? wrong verb I'd say... more like nudge... And the only time I bring up maximizer and 3630 in the same sentence is when I'm talking about my home entertainment center...producerkid said:slam it on about a 2.5:1 ratio....killer.....

Mr. Roberts turned his back while people were going up and playing complex original tunes. After they were done Howard turned around and played what they had just played and sounded better!

Wow... that must have sounded terrible...dkelley said:WTF? sure, last time I performed as violin soloist with a symphony orchestra I didn't tune my Amati.
