i have 300 dollars what mic(s) should i get for vocals .... im recording classic rock

ps. is the MXL 69 for 300 a bad idea... it is a tube mic

heres a list on mics i was looking at:

Studio Projects B1
MXL .... well all of them really

For vocals, I would look at the Studio Projects C1 instead of the B1. Another good option, maybe your best, is the Shure SM7B. It's a dynamic, but it's a little more flexible than the average chinese mic because it doesn't have that hi-end "sheen" that can get annoying when layering tracks. Especially if this is going to be your primary mic, I would seriously look at the SM7B.

Because it's Austrailia day?
Do they give days off for that now? Or maybe Nick is "sick" and had to stay home and post on a recording BBS to get better.

How do you know he's not in school. Could be he has a laptop with a wireless internet and he's between classes.

Perhaps, he graduated early from High School early and he's attending College, then again perhaps he is going to a trade school and part of his trade is working on computers (which have internet access) and he's writting from there. Oh! I know he's home schooled! :D

He could be ditchin school or perhaps part of his study involves working at a Recording studio and that enables him to post during the day hours. Hell, maybe he put New York as his location but actually lives in France. :D :D I guess the options are endless.

Could be that wherever he is in New york that it could be a snow day...lots of classes cancelled here in CT

for all around use what would you buy besides the to well known SM57

I like both the sm7 and 4033 very much. What's your room like, and what mics do you already have?

get a 3035

A good mic is a audio technica 3035
they have a tube mic too

BTW, to answer an earlier question, the V69 is a nice tube mic but is not for every voice.
