I have 300 dollars saved up and I want to record a few writtens and freestyles with my friends with instrumentals in the background. I am going to Best Buy this weekend...what software/program could I buy to make a decent sounding Hip Hop CD on my home computer? I have 300 dollars but I could probably get another 100 out of my uncle so what should I buy...I'm clueless  .

I doubt that you'll find anything useful to record at BestBuy, regardless of your budget. The only sell low-end consumer electronics.

I wish the mods would sit down for 5 minutes and figure out who the dufus is that registers with a new screen name every week just so he can post these clueless questions, under the mistaken impression that every body gets a big laugh and a kick in the butt out of it......

and then ban him and his IP numbers for life.

This clueless crap comes up at least every week. And you guys all fall all over yerseffs trying to be the first one to educate the clueless and homeless, the sick and the hungry...... gimme a break.

For one thing, anybody who is "clueless" enough to go to best buy looking for something to record rap is not even going to know about this forum, let alone have the gall to post such a clueless question......and anybody with barely enough savvy and recording motivation to know about this forum isn't going to be incompetent enough to waste his own time with such clueless crap, let alone waste all of our time......unless he's a surfing multiple personality disorder who thinks it's a big funnny joke that everybody loves. He would be wrong.

Why does this person only do this on THIS forum and no where else?? That right there should be your first clue, people....

The joke isn't funny any more.......

you may be right

but what evidence do you have

that there aren't

just a bunch of clueless individuals

posting these questions?

that makes more sense to me

we all start out clueless

i doubt this is someones running joke. the sites address is "homerecording".com If you were looking to record at home, you probably wouldn't even have to bother with a google search to find this site.

I just think you're underestimating the lack of motivation people have to find answers that are already out there rather than just blindly posting and having people spoon feed them.

save the three hundred bucks and check into something called Kristal

or google the word Audacity for some more free software to get you going..... not worth three hundred bucks right out of the gate for what you want to do.

Dude you're an idiot you could check my IP this is my first time posting and I was serious about the question...I found this site trying to find the answer myself and thought this would be a good place to ask.

A good place to ask about software? A microphone forum?

Hey, Hey, HEY!!! I was just told that I am the idiot here...... so back off! It's my honor and I'm sticking to it! :o

if I was you I wouldn't go out and buy some expensive software just yet, get something cheap that will just record for you. You should invest your money more into some hardware & a good mic... Get yourself a m-audio audiophile 2496 for $100, go off and buy a mic for another $100, and a cheap $60 dollar behringer mixer for now... you wont' get good quality, but it'll be decent enough for you until you go off and save enough for some higher quality stuff...

Sorry, couldn't resist ;-)

But I guess with the number of questions about what microphone to use for rap vocals (I didn't realise that rap vocals had any particular microphone requirements over any other recording situation, so maybe I am an idiot too), someone would figure all the rap microphone experts that frequent this board would know a thing or two about rap recording software (again, I didn't realise there was a special Cubase Pimpin' Ho edition).

I once faked up a Cakewalk studioware panel that had sliders called 'attitude' and 'balls factor' that did nothing but actually fooled the person I was recording - come to think of it, he was recording a rap at the time...
