Hi everyone. I've been trying some drum recording lately and my set up is a 57 in the kick, a Sennheiser e609 on the snare and an AT2020 for an over head. I have a mbox mini so i have the kick on one track and the snare and over head on the other track. (I can only record two tracks at a time. Only two inputs) Does this seem like a logical set up? I've gotten pretty good results after messing with the mic placement. Just looking for some suggestions.

Thanks Everyone!!

I would try the at2020 over and work it to capture the snare. Use the 57 for the kick on track two, but I dont think I would combine the 609 and the at together. That could reek havoc when mix down approaches. It will take some work, but you can get a really good snare sound with that overhead and a little eq work. I speak from experience, in a pinch I had to record a kit in a garage with only one mic overhead. I had to eq the crap out of it, but it turned out ok.

Awesome awesome. Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot tonight
