While changing strings on my 1938 Rickenbacher lap steel (for the first time) I noticed something rattling around in the body of the guitar. So I decided to remove the pickup and see what was going on. Well, it looks like it was this Mallory Capacitor that had come loose.
I also found out that someone had apparently mashed an old newspaper into the body to try and quiet the rattling down. This wadding was a 1938 Los Angeles Times!
I also found this Guitar Pick in there too! Does anyone recognize the brand of guitar pic? It may not be as old as the guitar since I have played it before and may have dropped one in there myself.
Anyway, I thought this was a pretty interesting story and wanted to share it with you.
BTW... There's still more wadding up in the neck of the guitar but I need to find a coat hanger to be able to get it out. Who knows, maybe you'll be seeing me on Antique Road show soon. lol
