Looking for a decent enough mixer for doing mixes and basic mastering on for around 1000 dollars.
Also! Im thinking of buying 16 pre amps to do my basic tracks on. Is there any way to use the same board to record up to 16 mics/lines and also use to do my mixes using only a 16 channel board? Dumb question?

thanks

Sorry, but yes, it's a dumb question. Or at least the wrong question.

You don't actually need a mixer at all--and (though you don't say WHAT peso you're talking about) I'll assume you mean Mexican which makes each peso 7 or 8 cents. You won't get any mixer worth having for $80.

I suggest your first course of action should be to read THIS FAQ which will give you the basics of home computer recording.

However, in a nutshell, unless you have a very well set up studio, you'll probably end up recording one or two tracks at a time (via an interface, not a mixer) then do the mix "in the box" on your computer. None of this needs a mixer--indeed, unless you spend many thousands of dollars on a professional mixer that can control (and be controlled by) your software, the mixer will get in the way and degrade your sound quality.

Anyhow, have a read of that FAQ and see how you get on with the suggestions there.

Save just a few dollars more and get this. US street price around $1300.

You had me worried since 1000 pesos translates to $100 and I was wondering how you expected to get a 16 channel mixer for that ...

Carry on!

If you can hide a 16 channel mixer under your coat, you have a very big coat.
