Im not trying to sound like a dick but why are you? From what I understand the person was only trying to give friendly advice and you want to ban him...He did'nt even say he cracked the program...He said it was a gift...You condemned him to prison and for all we know it could have already been on the computer he bought from a "Dope" "Fiend", which is dumb to brag about but thats another topic.....I bet u guys talk real bad about rappers.

P.S. I can smell an overzealous gung-ho internet police moderator a mile away.
Where's that facepalm icon again?? We are mostly musicians on this site and most everyne can appreciate music in any genre. I cant speak for everyone, but as a whole no one hates rappers or rap. What we do hate are people who steal. When Hutch received a "gift" from a friend, it was basically stealing.

I hate rap and rappers. As a genre it generally promotes racism, criminalism, and misogyny. As musical skill, it isn't.

"True...especially as we haven't specified WHICH industry yet!" So funny. My setup is pretty modest compared to some forum members. The comment about a trained/pro on cheap gear is so true. Not claiming anything but an amateur (god bless em, been one too) with hi end gear has nothing on a pro with low end stuff.

Well, if you actually read the thread, you might see that my feelings about the OP were correct. He was disrespectful and obviously never replied in a way that would suggest that he didn't have illegal software. Either way, he was not banned for that.

As far as he whole talking bad about rappers thing, I have a hip hop group (3 guys) that come into my studio every Sunday evening to spit tracks. If you think I have a problem with rappers, then you are sadly mistaken. I have issue with assholes who think they know everything and think that everything is free for them to use.

I'm not sure what you are smelling, but you might want to choose who you represent a bit more carefully yo.

Oh yeah,

:D

Engineers are there to get the sound "right" using tech skills and exp. I am in the camp of "I really do not care what type of music you want to record/reproduce" I am there to make sure it is done correctly and accurately conveys the artist's/producers intent within the medium. I do not care for rap but that is my opinion, man. I will record Rap artists or whoever. Moving from genre to genre is always a challenge and educational. There are so many free plugs and low cost hardware that are really up to the task, no need to use cracked stuff and profit from its use.

Exactly. It is typically those who think that just because they have a cracked version of something good, that it makes them able to compete with those with actual talent.

I have easily 6G invested in software plugins/DAW. Probably 30G in gear, room treatments, security system and lava lamps. Still working on sounding pro... :)

....I bet u guys talk real bad about rappers.

The style of music has nothing to do with it, though often it's the Hip Hop/Rap bunch who fall into that category the most....just sayin'.
The ones who think they are top-notch "producas" 'cuz they mixed some beats in their bedroom, but haven't got a clue how to even mic up a drum kit for recording real beats.
It's all just a lot of canned loops, synth patches and DAW plug presets.

So when they show up full of piss-n-vinegar about how to make great mixes using tips-n-tricks that don't really make sense...they get called on it.

I think I smell an asshole, and it isn't Jimmy! Where did that clown come from? He might benefit from reading that old book, How To Win Friends and Influence People!

I have never read the book. But it is only $12.76 at Amazon. I'm sure there is a torrent version for those who wish enlighten themselves illegally.

Ok, I skimmed through the book a bit, and ordered it for myself. Gonna get my read on! :)

Let's see if it compares to 'The Secret'. I assume there is not a movie version of this....

Not bothering to enter the discussion if he is/is not using pirated software or not, if he knows anything about the recording industry or not, I will only comment on him being able to record a professional sound with a USB mic and a total spending of $150.

I have been in the professional industry for more than 40 years and have a setup worth well over $200k (including some mics worth about $7k each, a 96 chnl fully automated console, etc) and added to that a studio and control room that has been acoustically treated and tuned to the limit and have recorded and/or produced records that have been top sellers, yet I still say that I have recorded duds and am still learning on a daily basis.

How he claims to be such an expert and produce such excellent sound I do not know.

Hey pal, you're off to a great start. This guy said he has software he didn't pay for. They were "gifts". Even if you have the installation disc, licensing is another matter. I may be wrong, but he said he didn't buy his computer from a dope fiend, but a piece of outboard gear. Did you read the post? Ozone doesn't come with a disc. As has been stated previously, it is only available through a download from Izotope. His whole deal reeks of sleazery. I don't talk "real bad" about rappers unless they come across as thugs. Unfortunately many do.

P.S. Don't piss off the moderators. They can smell a hack 2 miles away.

I just call it like I see it...Like you've never seen a youngster that thinks he's found something and wants to share it and shit goes way off of topic...For all we know he could have a sugar momma with dentures and deep pockets who showers him with gifts for being her boy toy...See what Im saying? And Im not worried about the moderators, Im not here to please them :-)...and I play live so no need to worry about me pirating.lol.

To the original author...Stop talking so damn much. The left hand NEVER....EVER EVER EVER EVER let the right hand know what its doing.

Yeah...like the other day I was scratching my ass with my left hand, and all of a sudden my right hand went back there too....
...and then there was this uncomfortable pause when the two hands met, like both of them went "WTF are you doing here?"...

...meanwhile I still had an itch that wasn't getting scratched.

"HOW TO WIN FRIENDS & INFLUENCE PEOPLE" just arrived. Let's see if it leads me to success! :)
