I have a gutted p.a. cab with an EVM15L in it, but I need to cover the front-mounted speaker that was never intended to be front mounted......

I think I found out that the grill actually mounts directly over the speaker rim? It's the same size as the speaker, but doesn't use any holes that the speaker rim uses. Instead it has clamps that mount on the outside of the grill, screwed into the baffle board, to hold the grill in place on top of the speaker rim.

something like that. if that's correct, then I think I can make the 15 inch grill work out ok......
