Getting better
Okay gang, there's not much point to this story, but I just HAVE to share...

For a long time now I've wanted a budget 12-string acoustic, for recording and occassional live use. I'm not much of a 12-string player, but I'd like to learn SOME technique and I wanted that color on some songs. Well...

I was talking to a music store owner from across the country about a case for my Epi Dot, and he asked if I wasn in the market for anything else. I mention the 12. He says, "Do you care what it looks like?" I said no, so long as it feels and sounds right.

He told me about a Hohner solid-top 12-string he had where the finish was marred on the top, just south of the sound hole. Hohner being a budget brand, he sells em for like $250 or so. He offered it to me... for $99.

I couldn't pass it up. I took the plunge. And now that I have the guitar I'm SO glad. Who cares about some mar in the finish??? I got a new, solid-top 12 string for less than a c-note. The sound is nicely balanced, and the FEEL is wonderful for a 12. Even I can play it.

If anyone wants the name of the store, post here and I'll be glad to share it. I am IN NO WAY connected with the store - in fact, never heard of it till I started looking on the 'net for cases and his was the cheapest ($69 delivered, by the bye). But he mentioned he had another 12-string, a Jay Turser I believe, that he's selling for the same price.

whats the name of the store you got it from?
does he have a website and what else does he sell?

It's Barry Clark Music. The store owner is, surprisingly, Barry Clark. He doesn't have a full web site, but here's a link to his store page: http://www.explorewisconsin.com/BarryClarkMusic/.

He seems decent on the phone, and I love the guitar he sold me. I would be hard-pressed to see the defect on the finish from farther than about six feet away.

Now, I need to work on my 12-string chops.
