$1000 for Studio Gear...advice needed please!

I am sort of a newbie and really do not know what is the best bang for my buck.

Currently I have a Presonus Blue Tube Mic Pre, Rode NT-1, Shure SM-57, and a decent pair of studio-quality headphones. For software I am using Sonic Foundry Vegas 2.0 and SF Sound Forge.

I think my main purchase would be an okay set of monitors. Money is the key issue here and I can not spend much more than $500 for a pair of active monitors.

Next I think a soundcard would be a good idea. I currently have a Santa Cruz and am thinking about the Delta Audiophile 24/96. I am also thinking about possibly selling my Presonus Blue Tube and getting the M-Audio Omni Studio, but I am still debating that. Any other suggestions would be fantastic.

Lastly I am thinking about purchasing a Midi Keyboard. What else would I need in order to play around with midi? And how much would I be looking to spend?

Now the $1000 is not set in stone, I can go a little higher if needed.

Hmmm... Keep what you got and replace it later. How good do you want the monitors and do you want powered?
Check out the powered and un powered Yorkville, and if you want to spend a little more money, shoot for a cheap pair of KRK's. Get stuff you can grow on. The Delta 1010 will at least have 8 inputs and is clockable, and its $600 or so. I think you can get a Delta 1010 and some Yorkvilles for under $1000.

Yeah Powered (active) monitors is what I want to get. I have heard that those Yorkvilles are real nice for the price, do you know of any on-line stores that sell them? I live in Alaska and our music stores stink.

I think the Delta 1010 is a bit of overkill for my application. At the most it will be my brother and myself and probably will probably only be recording one instrument at a time. So I think eight i/o's is a bit much.

You can do without the RNC and do compression in the mixing stage with software to save $$$.....

The Audiophile has midi in/out, but lacks an onboard synth...which means you can connect your keyboard and get signal in and out, but you have nothing to make sounds....if you have a soundcard in there now (SB LIVE?) you can keep that in for the synth.....
