Hello folks....

Took the challenge tonight, with "mixed" results!

A cover of The Beatles' "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away." Recorded, mixed, and posted at IUMA.com between 10PM and 11:30PM tonight.

Recorded on an Akai DPS16. Mics used: Studio Projects B1 and C1, and an AKG C1000s.

Wanted to re-do the vocals but ran out of time. Oh, well!

Hope the link works....

one of my faves! great job. pretty true to the original in even the small details. and 1.5? damn!!!!! good job!!!! very impressive!!!!!

this is silmply awesome.. I'll listen a litle more later.. GOOD JOB!

You captured it dead on. This is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Thanks for the kind words, folks! I appreciate it.

In listening again this morning, the only thing I'm really unhappy about are the vocal "Hey!" bits. Those are pretty weak. Well, at least the 12-string is in tune!

Have a nice day...

hey, we can't hide our love away, about your tune. very nice my friend. and I for one like the "hey", it's what makes the tune yours.

Hey!

IMO, You've got to firm up those "Hey" parts, but otherwise this is a damn good cover, and especially good for 1.5 hours. The "Hey" is just a little weak, but not terrible or anything. It's a very respectable sounding cover.

I have yet to participate in the 1.5, so I can't really talk, can I?

I'll report back to'ya later on that.;)

Hey BobOC. Real nice stuff. Loved the guitar sound. I've been playing this song for years, and listening through headphones, you just made me realize I've been playing it wrong all this time.

Is the 6 string capoed? Is that 2 different 6 string parts, one capoed, and one not?

Twist

Hi Twist...

I recorded two 6-string parts, no capo (panned hard left and right), and then a 12-string (panned near the middle, but not quite). I also added an additional six string part on that descending line after "...let me hear you say...." (right before the chorus).

Other tracks: one for vocal, one for bass, one for tambourine, one for shaker during the chorus, and one for "brushes" during the song (actually me rubbing my shirt!). And two tracks for the "flutes." So that's eleven total tracks.

Of course, the Beatles accomplished all of this with four total tracks!

Much props to you sir.Great remake!!!!Justice has been done...I really like the vocal, seriously.I think it sounds fine.Mint guitar sound, too.
