Here's the link to the same machine in full working order.

It is a bit pricier but, you could drive there in half a day and take it with you if you have a van or pick up truck?

After the shipping costs of your ebay link, this might work out pretty close, plus, you might be able to talk them down in price a bit.

Cheers! :)

A little pricey but some have been asking about these lately. http://cgi.ebay.com/Otari-MTR-20-1-2-Four-Track-Taperecorder_W0QQitemZ7416437763QQcategoryZ15199QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

..On second thought. A 96% feedback rating and in Denmark. Forget it...

.
well I live in denmark and 1/2 inch 4 tracks and 1 inch 8 tracks are ridiculously scarce here. It would be very tempting except that I just got hold of an old Brenell mini 8 one inch 8 track for nearly no money. Thanks for the info though!

Nice score. Not familiar with Brenell but a 1" 8 track sounds nice.

Mostly they're famous for their old valve recorders in the 50's and 60's.
The Mini-8 was their attempt at the home studio market in the late 70s and it was used by various members of Genesis and their peers:

Phil Collins and Larry Fast both used them to record the basic tracks for several albums at home, which were then copied to 24-track back at the studio.

The one I've seen on eBay was the Tascam ATR-60/4HS,...

but that was only twice in 6 years. :)  :)

The first one I spotted was in appx. 2001 or 2002, which was a great deal for only $500! Unfortunately, it was about $500 more than I had at the time! ;)

The second one was in 2005, but the seller wanted $1999/reserve,... & I was like no way! I e'd him twice, offering $550, but it was a no-go. He's probably sitting on that "$1995" Tascam, to this day!!  ;)

I kick myself for not grabbing the one for $500, in 2001/2 !!!

Anyway, I've also seen several 70-Series 1/2" 4-tracks in the last couple years/months, but they were not what I was looking for.;) Series 70's a bit too primitive for me. ;)
