Banned So Many Times

I am. I was once banned from a facebook group for arguing with a woman in a film group about the movie "Fighting With My Family". When she wrote "I wouldn't watch that gay crap if my life depended on it." I responded with "Are you homophobic?" I was banned for that. She's still there.

Fighting with my Family is a film that I bought cheap (I'll buy anything cheap). The girl on the cover looked cute. But, the rest looks like crap. I did not know it had a wrestling background. When it came on, I thought "Oh this is going to suck" and it didn't. From the opening scene to the end, it's the best movie I saw last year. I've watched it at least a dozen times since. Florence Pugh has become one of my favorite actresses. She's excellent in Lady MacBeth and the opening of Midsomer is excellent it just heads downhill after the opening.

Florence is going to be in the Black Widow movie and she looks badass as well as looking good.

I'm sure you will let anyone know when they have crossed the civility line...but it would be nice if some basic political discussion was allowed in the next couple of months, considering that the whole world is interested who will win.

I know there are probably many hardcore political sites...but TBH, those places have way too much "noise"...and the small group of folks here that may want to occasionally discuss some political perspectives...is certainly not the large group of Cave dwellers we had in the past, whose only purpose/reason for being on HR was for off-topic discussion.

It's been that way for a long time. Talk about whatever you like, within the law, as long as you're not being a knob whilst doing it.
Some people still struggle with that but we can dream.

If something turns into a trainwreck mods are likely to step in but the same applies on-topic.

For some reason...I thought back when the Cave was abolished, that political talk was actually no longer allowed, regardless of how civil it may be...
...but then, maybe I'm thinking of another forum site where that is the case.

Nah, that was here for a while when it was just too much/too hard to police.
It was never officially abolished but, then, it was never official either.

The thing people should really think about...which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone...is the economy.
Trump can be goofy and fumbly...bit Biden/Harris will destroy the economy which prior to the virus, was doing very well under Trump...oh, but of course, the virus is Trump's fault, so let's also blame him for what the virus did for the economy.

The coronavirus was made much worse under Trump's pathetic leadership.

Trump has all sorts of ignorant and uneducated people thinking they shouldn't wear masks or socially distance (which led to unnecessary spread). He also duped those same idiots into thinking there is already a cure (hydroxychloroquine) which has the predictable effect of them taking more risks - which spreads the virus.

So yes, the pathetic economy (the Trump recession is official now) and the pathetic employment numbers (11% - worst since the great depression) are, in part, Trump's fault. For reference, Obama left Trump with a 4.7% unemployment rate that was trending downward.

Oh yeah, and the economy was much better under Obama in terms of job creation, the deficit, GNP growth, stock market growth, etc. Pretty much every metric - Obama was an amazing President. Obama even passed bigger tax cuts than Trump (except Obama's tax cuts went mostly to regular folks whereas Trump's went primarily to the billionaire political donor class).

Nice try...I was almost expecting you to show up with that counter-argument.

When Trump wanted to limit international access at major USA airports, like JFK, etc...state Dem leaders like NY's Cuomo and CA's Newsome immediately objected...and so did some other countries, like France...so the airports stayed wide open, and the virus flew in.

When Trump suggested that NY quarantine some cities, like NY City, because the virus was blowing up rapidly...Cuomo again objected to that idea, and pretty much anyone who lived in NYC and also had homes elsewhere, like in Long Island and Upstate...they were allowed to travel, and spread the virus.
Meanwhile...now NY has a quarantine for anyone coming into the state...too little too late.

Cuomo, Newsom and other primarily Dem state governors decided to push back against Trump, and they took matters into their own hands (Cuomo's exact words)...and what did we end up with...certain major states going to into extended shutdowns (but not quarantine)...which killed out economy.
How much did it really stop the spread...?...not much at all. Cuomo has taken virtual victory laps at his handling of NY......meanwhile NY has had more COVID deaths than most countries, and this is ALL following Cuomo's executive orders on how people should behave in public and protect against the virus...so what was achieved AFA stopping virus spread...not much, but certainly the economy was driven into the ground...which was all a politically calculated move on those governors' part. Not to mention...there's an investigation concerning his nursing home orders, to find out just how many people actually died from his poor leadership...and guess what, Cuomo is suppressing the data.
There's some hypocrisy for you.

So blaming Trump for his leadership, while Dem governors went their own way, and Trump really had little he could implement from a federal perspective...is exactly the type of liberal hypocrisy that I can't stand...and far-left liberals live daily in their own hypocrisy, attacking anyone who doesn't agree with them, meanwhile, never commenting or admitting to their own negative actions.

Please...if you're going to talk politics here, don't show up with more liberal hypocrisy...with nothing more than the same old "blame Trump" arguments while ignoring the negative aspects of Dem/Lib political actions. Try to be honest from both sides of the political isle.

Like I said...I don't think Trump is a great president...but I certainly don't think Biden will make a great president, and for sure not his running mate, Harris...who has a high potential of becoming president by default if they win in November, because Biden may not even make it through the first 4 years.

No one wanted Biden 3 times in the past...and no one wanted Harris this election cycle...now they have a shot to become our new leaders...and you want to talk about Trump's leadership...?
That's all fueled by the liberal hypocrisy...wanting to simply push Trump out and replace him with two previous political losers....or anyone for that matter.
The Dems/Libs aren't looking for anything more than to gain power....and if they win, after the election we will all pay a high price, which the Dems/Libs have already signaled with their ideas that will be the case.

AFA the economy...most people who are honest, admit that Obama was a do nothing president...and Trump turned it around...but go on, believe what you want.

So blaming Trump for his leadership, while Dem governors went their own way...

All Governors in the United States went their own way - because Trump's leadership is incoherent.

The guy doesn't know shit about anything. It boggles my mind that conservatives don't see it. Here's what he said about his authority to deal with coronavirus:

President Donald Trump was asked during his White House briefing to explain his tweets in which he said that it’s up to him — not governors — to re-open states amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"What provision in the Constitution gives the president the power to open or close state economies?" a reporter asked Trump April 13.

"Numerous provisions," Trump replied. "We’ll give you a legal brief if you want."

Reporters pressed Trump for details, but he never cited specific provisions in the Constitution or federal law.

When a reporter asked again, Trump said, "The authority is total, and that’s the way it’s got to be."

PolitiFact | Trump’s ridiculous statement about “total” authority neglects Constitution

AFA the economy...most people who are honest, admit that Obama was a do nothing president...and Trump turned it around...but go on, believe what you want.

There is no data what-so-ever that suggests Trump had to turn anything around economically.

The stock market skyrocketed under Obama, and unemployment plunged. The economy was adding hundreds of thousands of jobs every Month under Obama for years prior to Trump taking over. That slowed under Trump, and now it's downright pathetic. Tens of millions of jobs have been lost under Trump, and because of Trump. We're now in a recession under Trump.

Your statement is pure fiction.

Don't take the bait, man. I know, it took everything I had not to come back at them with both barrels. But, it's like a meme that's going around says, life's too short to argue with a Trump supporter.

These guys are like Trump - they thrive on the attention created by their vitriol. We'll be better off if we just ignore them.

Just watch. This is where they'll try to suck me into it too, by attacking me.

You and I both know what's going on, and they'll never be swayed, so just let it go.

Relax, turn off your mind, and float downstream...

I hear ya but I'm going to post one more eye-popping Trump factoid:

By the end of 2020, the amount of debt owed by the United States will amount to 98 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product, the CBO said. That is up from 79 percent last year. Total government debt will surpass the U.S. economy’s size next year, the CBO said.

Fueling this rise is a big jump in the government’s annual budget deficit, which is projected to widen to $3.3 trillion by the end of this fiscal year, more than triple its level in 2019. The deficit was already on track to be elevated because of recent tax cuts and spending increases, but the government’s response to the pandemic expanded that gap dramatically.

Remember back in 2009 when we thought $1.5 trillion was astoundingly unforgivable? Yer doin a heckuva job Trumpy!

 :D

You see what happens when they arrive. Spinning anti clockwise in a left frenzy spouting anything anti Trump.

They believe in this utopia of a socialist heaven which can never exist. It has been tried many times and failed every time.

It's the same every time and when they start to froth and dribble the 'racist' words will start to come out.

You guys who support Biden and Harris...have nothing to say against Trump supporters, because as idiotic as you make out Trump supporters to be...support of Biden and Harris is on par with the same kind of idiocy...but I'm sure you won't see that.
It's really not about supporting Trump as much as it's NOT wanting to support Obama/Clinton ideology in 2016...or the Biden/Harris future now in 2020.

Let me also add that Trump didn't win in 2016 because people were in love with him...her won because people had enough of do-nothing Obama for 8 years...and were now looking at the prospect of Clinton as possibly becoming president...which obviously didn't appeal to a lot of people.
So if the Obama years were so great, and brought so much economic prosperity...then Trump wouldn't have had a chance at beating Clinton...but I guess people thought different about Obama, and about Clinton.

So...if you guys want to mock Trump...you need to put up some better candidates to run against him other than a 3-time loser like Biden, and that self-absorbed political ladder climber, Harris.
The entire Dem field this past election cycle was pretty weak...which is proven by the fact that Biden walked away with the nomination.

Trump was/is the direct result of the weak-n-weird Dem/Lib candidates and their political ideas...not because he has/had a major fan base.
I know Dems/Libs can't see that...but the majority in the USA does not want to go down the path the Dems/Libs are wanting to head...and THAT is why Trump won, and will most likely win again.

The Dem/Lib politicians probably knew/know that...which is why they tried so hard to get rid of him via impeachment, and failed...and then as soon as the virus came along, all the Dems lined up to deflect the blame at Trump, while they are the ones who actually drove the country into the ground...which you guys seem to think was justified, because Trump didn't lead...but he had no control over the states...so he couldn't do much at state level, and THAT is where decisions were being made...most of them poor ones, and we are now living with the aftermath...but it's election time...so let's blame it all on Trump...but a lot of people know what went down, and who initiated it...so good luck on election day...the people who are not rioting and looting will quietly make their presence known with votes.

Anyway...I won't bother getting any deeper into politics with you guys...because I've learned that hardcore liberals are deaf to any other views except the ones they think are important and correct....and they are the most intolerant group these days, almost to the point of being guilty of discrimination and bigotry because of their "we're right, you're wrong" perspectives about everything.

They are intolerant because they have to be. The only way they can exercise their agenda is by force. They have to force everyone to live the way 'they' say everybody should.

The economics of their fancy ideas are insane. They see everybodies wealth as theirs to redistribute to all. Money is very easy to spend when its other peoples money.

When everything goes wrong it is never their fault. Argue with them and they will say you are 'right wing', a 'Nazi', and a 'racist'. They do this because they cant argue facts of their belief is wrong and is deemed to fail. So they accuse you of being something in an attempt to silence criticism of them.

That's not what I remember. In fact there is a news video where Obama was touring factories saying that Trumps job creation plans could not be done. But he did them within a few weeks of taking office.

America was in recession under Obama and the Clintons.

Only thing I’ll add is this;

Brace yourselves (both sides). We’re in for a rough ride. Whatever the outcome, this is probably gonna be a highly contested election. Both sides will call foul.
Trump wins......shit’s gonna hit the fan.
Biden wins.......shit’s gonna hit the fan.

We’ll keep on being distracted and fighting each other while the worldwide security/surveillance state marches on, no matter who’s in power.
Add to that robotics, AI, and a cashless society, a whole lot of people are going to suffer and be expendable.

With these lockdowns, they’ve already been social conditioning (training) us. Just the term ‘non/essential’ is now implanted into our consciousness. This wasn’t on people’s minds a little over 7 months ago.
Now the government can deem you non-essential and just shut you down at will with an edict.

A much as i enjoy being right ( wife told me I’m right twice a year;))
I hope I’m wrong on this one, but I don’t think so.

I see that the Los Angeles mayor just declared a fiscal emergency, and will be laying off 15,000 government employees.
I wonder if he sent a Thank You note to his governor for the great job Newsom has done in killing California's economy.

Here's a simple perspective...look at all the cities that are either struggling economically, dealing with far-left rioting and destruction, and where growth and lifestyle has been degraded over the years, and where criminals are getting released and illegals are given every amenity that citizens pay for, and where they are protected from prosecution for their illegal status...and they are all run by Democrat/Liberal politicians.

Yes...the Dems/Libs do such a great job...but let's blame Trump.

To be honest we do the same thing here but not for one video in a sea of conversation.
If someone signs up then immediately starts posting links to the same channel and it looks like advertising, they're gone.

It's not so much forums being OTT with the hammer - There's a trend, and has been for a long time, of people signing up everywhere to spam links and hope for traffic.

For members who want to share works in progress or releases we have the clinic and the show off sections.

Ah. But, I will say, I had over 25 posts before I went back. So, I was "new" but not brand new.

Recent post history and context would be taken into account.

CONTEXT? People still know what that is?

The intro to my facebook page is: Platforms that silence words without consideration for context is TROUBLING.

Remember the days when every conversation always ended with talking about sex. Can we still do that? :D:facepalm::thumbs up:

THOSE WERE THE DAYS!

Well George you've been here 7 years without getting The Ban but know now all that you have revealed here is going on your permanent internet record...we're watching you George :laughings: Rock on! :guitar:

This is just a touch. I can't even tell you how many places I've been banned from.

As a UK citizen totally confused by your politics, we look on the goings on and have no clue at all. The President does things that are truly unbelievable, yet 50% of America agrees with him and the other 50% hate him. The other prospective president seems to have no views whatsoever. We really don't understand this. We have really bad scenes of riots and angry people on our news all the time. I have British friends desperate to get out of America when the worked so hard to get a green card. Now they don't feel safe. This is the view from outside your country. There are very angry and very dangerous people trying to split it up. On a forum we don't know how old you are or what colour you are and thank God for this - because in text, it really doesn't matter. Why is it becoming so horrible in real life? Forum behaviour is minor compared with what's going on in real life!

Trump is not a politician and the left doesn't comment much on what he does as much about his tweets. What he says and does are usually two different things, because he doesn't have an agenda. He's the first President in years who has actually kept promises. The left hate him for it.

I don't know anyone that's fearful of living here. I know plenty of people who are sick of wearing a mask. If you go through the history of most countries there's times of unrest. Vietnam had violence in the streets. MLK Jr set off rioting as did the Rodney King verdict. Those are just off the top of my head. I watch shows on history and it seems like the US has forever been burning.

What part of the protesters want in the US is never going to happen. Many of the cases they site as proof of racism A) isn't necessarily racism. You don't know what's in a person's heart. Every bodycam video that's been released has the cops being stern but polite, till the fighting happens. Race has never been uttered on camera. B) Every person that's died from police has fought with the officers. For some reason people believe a person who is unarmed can not be shot by police. That's just factually incorrect. If a cop feels threatened, he can shoot. He can shoot someone who might be a threat to others. That's the law. Police do not have to take a bullet or die in the line of duty protecting anyone. They're not the secret service. The best that will come of this insanity is some procedures will change. But, they change all the time. The other half of the protesters are Antifa who want to fundamentally change the structure of the US from capitalism to socialism. Which as we all know has worked wonderfully wherever it's been tried. They don't have a chance in hell. They're the assholes who are looting and rioting. They started out years ago on their failed "Occupy Wall Street" campaign.

I have 2 daughters and 6 grand kids so hell yes I am worried about where we are headed. Like most of us Mericans, I feel pretty helpless as I watch the train wreck happening right in front of my eyes in very slow motion... Have no idea how this is all going to pan out and hope my offspring get to at least enjoy as nice of a life as I have enjoyed.... sadly as it was said in King Crimsons Epitaph "the fate of all mankind I fear is in the hands of fools"

Happiness is in each person's hand. I think back on growing up in the 60s and that's gone.

My friends who are mostly in their 50s - 60s are always saying "Our country is gone. Everything I love is being washed away. Movies and music are nowhere near as good as when I growing up..."

I completely agree with that. BUT, we're OLD. Our grand parents thought the same exact thing. They tried to ban Rock and Roll. It was Satan's music. Thank God for that. I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL. I loved dressing like a freak and being a freak. I'm still a freak, just in jeans and a t-shirt. Surroundings can change. But, if you keep a positive attitude, it'll all work itself out.

Idiots thought the country was doomed with 8 years of Obama, it wasn't. Trump is suppose to kill us all. He hasn't.

There was a great little show at Epcot, it was about stress. The line I always remember is "Real or imagined stress will take its toll." ALL of my stress is imagined. I just say "George quit being an ass." Then I'm fine.

Again - as a distant observer, all I can say is that in my own circle of friends, two are returning home - they live in Reno. In the wider circle of Facebook friends, five, maybe six are also jumping ship and returning home. 2 in LA, and the others I'm not certain where they are based. Here, our police are being told to be careful stopping black people because it's being seen as racist behaviour, to look at someone in a car and stop and check them. OK to do it to white folk! Our police are reluctant to use tasers - we do see armed police more than ever before, but I don't remember it ever being reported they shoot people in the way the US police appear to. Any person trying to get into a vehicle in a hurry could be trying to retrieve a weapon to use against the police officer. Here, 'could' is insufficient. They could be looking for their driving licence, they could be looking for proof they are innocent, they could be panicking and looking for security inside a vehicle? Until they produce a weapon, 'could' is speculation. So you say STOP - they don't, so you shoot them just in case they were about to do something unlawful? This is what we see. Obviously like the video circulating on Facebook - 4 seconds of a clip paints one view, the whole five minutes a totally different one, but Americans (forgive) are gun happy. Ordinary individuals on streets with what look like machine guns? REALLY? Laws that entitle you to carry a gun, just in case? Just in case of what? Losing your parking space at a supermarket, or because somebody bad mouthes you? Nuclear deterrent worked because nobody used them. Arming little old ladies just in case somebody tries to mug them is plain bizarre! An overt gun is easy, but a concealed one needs extra permits? With every citizen entitled to have a weapon, I can see the dilemma for the police. Here, we are really worried about knives - which again, are illegal here if the blade is bigger than leatherman size! Thank God we don't have guns allowed legally!

Perhaps thats the key. As you say he isn't a politician. So he thinks differently like most people. A + B = whatever it is instead of whatever suits the political class.

Maybe we should just do away with politicians?

Just a comment on living in America and dealing with cops who carry guns and will often shoot your ass if they think you are a life threatening danger to them or others around you...period.... With that being a no duh thing...or it sure should be...Here's my story..
I was busted for pot at 19 and arrested..I had long hair and pot was still a felony. I was polite and respectful to the cops doing their job. While handcuffed and know I was going to the can, one of the cops got his hand stuck while trying to retrieve my stash in an air vent where I kept it in my van...Knowing I was already screwed and now this cop is freaking out and pissed I offered to help him get his hand out..both cops looked at me like wtf? The other cop took the handcuffs off and while holding a gun on me allowed to help the other officer... I lived to tell the tale and they both spoke kindly of me when I went before the judge...It was screwed up and cost me a lot of money but it got dropped to misdemeanor and I got diversion...no jail time... So at the drug and alcohol classes I went to the teacher was a LA Sheriff...and he taught us all how to behave when you get pulled over.....he explained that when you become a cop the first place you spend your first year is at the county jail where you get to understand that there are some really bad people in this world who will kill you in a heart beat for a pack of cigarettes...This is done purposely to prepare them for the real world...When a cop pulls ANYONE over white, black, green or blue, old or young IT DON'T MATTER! They could be a very dangerous person...certainly there exceptions but if you want to make that cop comfortable as he can be when he is approaching your car this is what you do... You pull over roll down your window, put your hands at 12 O-clock on the steering wheel and look forward until he gets to your window and starts talking...Then look his way but keep those hands on the wheel... Do this ...you don't get shot...When confronted on the street STFU and listen to their commands, do what they say...you won't get shot... Me and a bud were pulling out of my parents driveway when I was 33...Pops was in the hospital....The neighbor didn't recognize my friends car and thought my parents house was being burglarized...suddenly right as we get to the street 3 units slide up on us and 6 cops with guns drawn and pointed at us tell us to put our hands outside the windows ......FUCK my friend starts yelling that this is my parents house and not complying...I yell at him to STFU and do what they ask NOW...We were pulled out of the car, handcuffed and laid out on the ground and searched with all those big ass gun barrels pointing down on us ...had we resisted or made sudden moves we easily could have been a statistic..... but we complied and lived... I have watched so many police shootings where had the "victim" just been polite and cool he'd still be breathing...You have rights here in the U.S. but arguing with a cop who has a gun on you is the wrong time to try to be exercising them ...If your rights are violated leave that to the lawyers or just suck it up and get on with life cause it is a jacked up world with some fucked up in the head people and cops have a target on their back..Their lives are truly on the line everyday and they need to stay wary of that fact....screw with them and you're playing with fire
