Thanks for reading...I did some of these recordings recently. Let me know what you think.
"Party" and "Gotta Piss" came out super well I think...I hate the vocal tracks on "Homies" but the dudes in the band love them. That song was rushed though. So go lightly on me for that song ;)...
when recording acoustic guitar, how can i suppress the sound of the pick against the strings? i don't want to TOTALLY eliminate it, i like the sound. but it seems like it stands out a little too much.
the USB mic i am using is tracking way too hot. and since the mic uses its own little onboard software driver thingy, i can't go to Control Panel>Sound>Recording and adjust the level there either.
the mic has a "high-medium-low" gain switch on it but even on low it's still clipping out the a**...

if anybody is willing to offer them, i'd like opinions about the production of some songs my friend and i wrote and recorded in his basement. go ahead, let me have it. i know they're mediocre quality, at best. but i am new to audio...

what does this mean?
in shopping for a better mic, i'm trying to understand the technical specs so i can make a more informed decision when i go to buy something but this is greek to me.
i can comprehend frequency ranges and max SPL, but i have no idea what this means.
is there a good all-purpose signal chain for recording vocals? i know there are infinite combinations to tailor a specific sound but i'm just trying to find out what to do with the raw WAV file to make it sound more full and sit better in the mix.
for example, what EQ curves are commonly used...
i keep seeing people say that you should never, ever use headphones to mix your project.
provided the fact that most people that hear my music will be hearing it through computer speakers, ipod earbuds, and/or car stereos, my theory was that if i just used earbuds to mix my songs, i would...
i've gotten to the point where i am satisfied with the music i have recorded...and i like the lyrics i have written. but i can't seem to put the two together.
what are good ways to compose vocal melodies?
