This can also be due to a long buffer size. If I'm not mistaken, buffer size refers to the amount of time that your computer takes to prepare the audio before it plays. In short, keep the buffer size small (in milliseconds) for tracking so you can play to the music with little delay and keep the...
back up your ksm about one foot and then compare the results. Not sure if you mentioned mic placement but point less towards the sound hole for less bass. Maybe put it next to the bridge or 12th fret to get closer to the USB mic's tone. Mic Placement can make a big difference. Plus, the KSM...
You cannot say you feel like giving up. It's only been a few times that you've mixed music ... you haven't even gotten started. Maybe recording music is or isn't right for you but give it a chance.
Yes, you are expecting too much. Getting professional results requires a great signal chain. a...

Post this thread in the MP3 mixing clinic. Your chances of feedback are greater over there. I can't listen right now, laptop speakers wouldn't be a fair judge of your work.
Good luck my friend!
Can you use a tascam 388 to record and simultaneously listen to the repro heads
I would love to integrate my 388 into my daw in this way. I understand there will be latency but I'm not looking to monitor off of the repro heads.
Thanks, eric
Copied from my post in another thread. Hope it helps!
Okay, so I was able to fix the problem.
For me the process went as follows:
Reel Servo Tension Roller Adjustment
The following process CAN help/cure playback, fast forward, and rewind issues on your Tascam 388. A simple adjustment to...
God, I love you Shedshrine. Thanks for the kind words and the kind measure!
I tried to post this earlier but apparently I forgot to submit the post!

Thanks for your reply in my other post. This too for me has helped me out. (what technoplayer wrote)
If you own the manual, it goes into detail on page 1-9 but I'm still not positive the exact adjustment to be made. I'll fill you in with any findings.
My Tascam 388 started acting up yesterday.
Play and fast forward work typically and rewind is going slow. Probably slower than 1 IPS. If I help the reels spin, it can keep up the speed but still won't go near the normal speed.
I've cleaned the tape path and that doesn't seem to be the issue...
I prefer the dmp3 over my 003 rack pres. I'm not sure if theyre the same in the mbox but I feel that the dmp3 is a cleaner more pleasant representation of the audio that passes through it. The 003 Rack pre's are very boring to me and see to take something out from my audio (ie.lifeless) but I...
I'd like to inquire for the same thing. Just finished building frames for my 703. Now that I know I have the motivation to actually build these things DIY, it'd be nice to know how much the 4 x 10 x 4" slabs are for future, bigger projects. Thanks!
Thanks for clearing this up for me. Today, I found myself thinking about what I said and it completely made sense .. kinda felt goofy for asking. But your answers made it crystal clear! :) Thanks again..
Can you resolve this for me. I hear rooms should have symmetry one sentence and then no parallel walls the next. Explain these relationships to room acoustics PLEASE! Thanks.
No, you shouldn't.

Read about absorption, diffusion, and bass traps. Treating a room will typically require more than one type of treatment. Learning about the treatments and issues with rooms will help you diagnose which treatment is appropriate. Read that...
There's a section of the forum called the MP3 Mixing Clinic. This is the appropriate place where you can post your song for a critique.

For your first question. Having a parameter for attack is a useful feature of compression. There are many situations in which you want to USE the sound of the natural attack. A snare drum is one of these applications. You don't want to cut off the attack on a snare drum, then it will sound...
