    Ode to Sharla

I definitely see what you guys are getting at about the drums....I guess maybe this isn't the best board to post this stuff on, as it's more stuff I record to chart out my ideas, rather than finalized concepts. If I were making a serious recording, I'd bring in my drummer friend, or at least...

the age old question on monitors

Many people who are accustomed to home speakers and car stereos will find that a speaker that measures flat (and often times any system that's set up properly) lacks bass and high end, as most home speakers are designed to accentuate those frequencies. Once your ears are used to the difference...

a new little composition of mine

http://sholnay.com/ul/files/3/newgroove-03.mp3 threw this together this afternoon. it's a little thing I thought o f l ast night while I was trying to fall asleep. I think I'm going finish it up with a solo section followed by another A section of the music, and maybe some drums/a rhythm guitar.

    Who do I listen to?

It's always hard to tell much about something on myspace because it completely rapes the sound quality. Vocals are the only thing that really jump out me as a trouble spot though. I like the guitars.

    Event TR-8 vs. Yorkville YSM1P

I'd assume the larger cab is to improve the bass response and get as much out of the 6.5 inch driver as possible.

    studio projects b1's as overheads

I prefer my MXL 603's for overheads to B1's. Just my opinion, they're a bit cleaner on the cymbals.

KRK V4's series one and series two: Any appreciable difference?

Dig up some reviews online (they are out there) and they all say the V2 is an improvement in every way.

cubase doesn't let me change my sampling rate...

Tascam FW-1884...sorry, by DAW set up app i meant the control app for the tascam. it's an outboard sound card/daw surface interfaced using firewire. when I chage it on the board, cubase automatically changes it back to 44100.

cubase doesn't let me change my sampling rate...

In my DAW set up app I can select whatever sample rate I want, I have the clocking set to internal, and when I open cubase SL 3 it automatically changes it back to 44100...It gives me the message "The sampling rate has been changed to 44100khz." How can I get it to take the sample rate I tell it to?

difference in models event tr seris & KRK RP5

The 8's might be a better choice for you if you mix bass heavy music. Bring some music you're familiar with/your mixes to the store with you and see which does the job better.

    EQ Rolling Off?

It's kind of seemed to me that if I have to exceed 3 decibles up or down I probably didn't do the best job of recording it in the first place.
