I've got DONGLE Fever! Need a CURE!

Thanks for the responses guys! Yes, they do make adapter cables, several are available from NewEgg for less than $20. I'm just not sure if they'd actually work! Guess I'd have to buy one to find out and then if no luck I'll be trying the new Steinberg key....

I've got DONGLE Fever! Need a CURE!

Greetings all Gurus! I've got a little crisis! I just got me a new dual-core machine and it does not come with a parallel port. I still and might forever use Cubase VST 5 and this of course utilizes the parallel port dongle. Do you know if it's at all possible for me to use a parallel to USB...

    GT 55 vs. Shure KSM27

When ever you're UN-sure then always go WITH Shure! The KSM27 is a great mic! But of course that's my VO bias! It has good tonal quality, I recommend it. I also use the AT4040, had mine for about five years now, another good choice!

    Shure KSM27...

EXCUSE ME? Are you trying to drop a negative on the Shure KSM27? I find it to be a VERY GOOD mic with a nice warm sound. A few of my fellow voice-over buddies use it in their own studios. I think it's money well spent man. Good buy!

    AT4040 Shockmount

On the contrary my friend, the mic DOES in fact "lock in" to the shockmount. The is a definite "lip" or "groove" where the thick rubber band suspension fits around the mic. Once you get the band between the groove your mic isn't going anywhere. It's locked in proper! I have my AT4040 suspended...

    audio-tec at4040 mic..

Yeah man the AT4040 is a great mic, clear, very sensitive. If a moth farts in the room it will definitely be heard loud and clear! :D Go get one man!

    What monitors do you use?

Can't understand why you didn't think to add good old Behringer to the list of options. Even if you don't like them, many people use them, as the poll clearly shows, in excess of 40% use them or something else. I proudly use the Behringer Truth B2030P Monitors.

    online gear shops

YOUR tow favourites are MY two favourites actually. They are both fast and reliable and prices are affordable. Another great gear site is www.8thstreet.com They have a huge inventory, probably more than most, lots of choices, especially in mics and headphones.

    Recording with MG10/2

Speaking from personal experiences, the ONLY Yamaha mixer that has a minute leak is the 10/2. ALL the others are tight. The reason for the minute leak on the 10/2 is because there are no MUTE buttons for the individual channels, all you can do is turn the level knobs down. The12/4 series and...

    Studio Headphones $100-$200 range

Yeah man, add my vote for the mighty Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones. The sound is very transparent and mixes translate very well. Plus they provide excellent sound isolation, immersing you within the sound. Go get 'em!

Calling all Cubase experts and Stein-BURGERS!!!

Okay here's what's up, I've been using Cubase for years since the days of VST 3.1, as a matter of fact I still use Cubase VST 5.1 extensively. However I need assistance with configuring the Compressor, I AM CLUELESS! Could someone PLEASE give me a detailed explanation on how to properly...

Anybody using the Behringer Truth B2031P

I use the smaller 6 1/2 inch 2030P's from Behringer. They are very good. I currently run them off a Samson Servo170 power amp. However I'm thinking of purchasing the matching Behringer A500 power amp instead. It's rated at 2 x 230 watts into 4 ohms or 500 bridged at 8 ohms. Like the Samson...

    Compressors...what are you using?

I'm looking for some advice on Compressors. I'm considering using one to enhance my Voice Over productions. Which brand would be a sensible and affordable choice in this area? All opinions are welcome.

Coating flaking off foam on HD280's

Yeah it happens to them all, especially the Sony 7506's. I need to order some replacements for my 280's myself for the same very reason.

    Your monitor Resolution

I use two (2) Samsung SyncMaster 740N 17" Monitors and I'm running them both at 1280x1024 for a TOTAL resolution on both screens at 2560x1024. I run them on a Matrox G450 dual head card.

Anyone interested in hearing a clip of an re20 vs sm7 with just spoken vox?

Respect Kidvybes! Tell me sup'm, why did you choose the PR-40 over the PR-30 and how does it sound? I'm still thinking of getting one, but I heard that the difference between the sound of the two mics isn't that much different. Did you get the chance to make a copmparison?

    Make DELL PC Quieter

The video card that I use is a Matrox G450 Dual VGA Card. It too has a heat sink instead of a fan, best bet for DAW's. I'm thinking of slowly swapping out my components, beginning with the hard drive. I'm buying one of those Seagate 7200.9 quiet drives to replace the Western Digital that's in...
