Is it just a company scare tactic or will regular SVHS tapes actually destroy your Adat heads. What happens when you use regular VHS tapes? Anyone tried it? And what about cleaning the heads, is that still a user no-no? Just wondering.

What program are you using? On mine I'm pretty sure there's a setting in there to make it so it spits stuff out in 8 bit mono etc. God knows why anyone would want that but that'd be the first thing I'd look for.

Hey has anyone run into the problem of computer monitor related noise coming thru on yer audio stuff? It's like a hum but it goes away when I turn the monitor off.

Convert to wave? I've got a program called Musicmatch. You can download it from the Mp3.com site. It'll pull your songs off a Cd and convert it into an Mp3 file ready for upload. I'm just curious as to what the process is. Can you submit them somewhere? Who's buying them? I'm all for making a go of it with your own songs but what if you're nobody? Having someone bigger doing one of your songs should equal some good promotion for the rest of your stuff right?

I just got a bunch of crap put on Mp3.com. Classify under Hutterite Rawk. It's all home studio recordings (2 adats) done by the band. I hope this isn't just shameless self promotion. Anyone out there had any Mp3 success?

Why don't you guys rent some fancy pants monitors? It's pretty cheap to rent stuff like that for a weekend. Mix using those and see if it turns out better.

Really? Why is that? I thought you were supposed to take it as close to zero as you can get it. Does zero in Soundforge = more than zero? Thanks for the tip though, I'll pull it back a bit and see what happens.

We recorded a band in our home studio. during mixdown (to computer) everything sounded good over the monitors and over headphones. Playba ck from the computer sounded fine too, as did playback on my diskman. Then I took the disk to give to the band as a master. They put it in their car stereo...

I had the same problem but ended up having to replace the scratchy pot because the cleaner didn't do anything. It was only $5.00 or something like that to get a new pot.

Oh, don't you worry. Guilt has been felt. When I got it I was out getting breakfast for my (sick with the flu) girlfriend. I happened to drive by the music store and the rest is history. When I got home she was up watching TV. "Oh, hi honey, here's your egg mc muffin... what's this?.... ummm...
