AKG C418's

I recently purchased a set of AKG C418's. In the last couple of weeks 3 of the 4 have died on me. 2 of them crapped out while being used on the snare and one bit the dust on the tom. You can hear on the recordings when they suddenly drop out and revert ot a kind of distorted blown out sound. It doesn't seem to be an issue of the mic getting nailed by the drumstick because there's no evidence on the recording of stick impact. They're still under warranty (phew...) so I think I'm going to get a different set of mics instead of replacement 418's.
Has anyone else run into this?
