    B&W DM303

Just would like to know if any of you guys have tried the 303's as near field monitors? I've read quite a few favorable reviews about the 6 series for mastering so thought maybe the 303's would make nice affordable near fields.... Any thoughts??

    WTB C-1 and VTB-1

I thought with all the S.P. bashing that's been going on lately, that someone may want to sell me a C-1. I'm also looking for a VTB-1 :) I'm just starting out and I doubt if I could hear much difference between S.P. and high end gear :)

    V67 on drum overheads

Me again. I just read a review, in the mic section , on a pair of V67's being used on a grand piano, with quite favorable results. I have one V67 and I'm considering purchasing another condenser mic for vocals. Have any of you tried using V67's for overheads? I don't have high...

    snappy snare setting

I would really appreciate any E.Q. settings to help me get more snap from my snare. The reast of my kit is sounding pretty good. I'm using recorderman's O.H. technique with an added snare and kic mic. I'm using an SM57 near the rim angled down, thru a 2488 Tascam. I also have other mics and...

    best budget compressor for drums

I guess the title says it pretty well. I'm using a Tascam 2488 and I think I need an outboard compressor. I'm particularilly interested in buying one that is best suited for drums. I want to spend as little as possibe but want something better than the Tascam onboard.

    tube mic quetion

I recently read somewhere that tube amps do not require a seperate preamp. Is it true that the power supply or the the mic has enough gain to eliminate the need for a seperate outboard preamp? If so how would one control the gain?

    ribbon microphones

Tried to keep the title simple for future searchers. I've been experimenting with ribbon mics for tracking my drums. I'm using a pair of Nady's and so far have been placing them about 3 ft. in front of the tom rack about 30" high, just a bit lower than the cymbals. This gets me a nice cymbal...

    2488 panning problem

Tried to pan a couple of overhead drum mic's without sucess  I went to the pan menu and selected the inputs, c and d, which I was using and panned them hard left and right, but I was still getting the sound thru both speakers. Any ideas what I may have overlooked??

    2488 D.I. ch. 8

Can anyone tell me if the D.I. built into the 2488 is based on any other D.I. ? So far I've found that bass seems to work quite well through it, but not guitar.

    Nady RSM 2

Sorry! I'm a newbie and can't even find the search engine :o I'd really like to hear from those who've tried the Nady ribbon mikes for female vocals.

mic choices for an edgie female voice

Does edgie make sense? Her voice is not real raspy like some blues singers. It's fairly clear and a bit on the lower range but with a bit of edge to it. Some I'm considering are: Beyer M500, Marshall V67, Shure SM7, I'd really like feedback :D on my thoughts. I'm fairly new at this and will...

Is a seperate mic preamp necessary with a 2488?

I know it seems like a stupid question, but I'm a newbie here and a newbie at recording. :D I just bought a 2488 and am now shopping for a nice voc. mic. I've read that a good pre amp is a must w/ a large diaphram condenser mic., but I'd like to know if that applies mostly to d.i. to a...
