i actually haven't heard any of these, but the reason i've narrowed into these two is because, a friend of mine has an old cerwin vega system that sounds amazing...and wharfedales get so...

its a little scary buying a new product when theres absolutely no feedback on it.
so this isn't a recording question, but since lots of you guys are self-proclaimed audio experts :p ...i'm curious to know your input on a pretty good surround sound system for my living room. kinda open on price, around $500US-$1500US. i've been looking at wharfedale and cerwin vega...share...

i've been told (and experienced) that professional soundcards overwrite the windows audio settings, therefore deeming the windows recorder to be useless for recording audio. (specifically with my soundcard 'echo mia midi' when i hit record in sound recorder, it speeds up the music to chipmunk...
i just got an m-audio firewire soundcard...its a great sound card with the exception it only has unbalanced inputs, so i have it connected with rca's to my event tr6 monitors...consequently i'm experiences more low level noise from the unbalanced inputs then b4 when they were running through...
i can't comment on the wharfedales as i've never heard them. but i have auditioned the krk's and the event tr6's which i now own, so obviously favoured them more then the krk's. the bad thing i've heard about wharfedales is they sound to hi-fi and not flat enough. but cant' confirm this. jsut...
^ thanks for the advice. i think i might be getting a new soundcard becuase i'm starting to think this one is defective. any recommendations? i've been looking at the m-audio audiophile firewire.
anyone else at all to lend there input on this situation? i'd really appreciate the help. in the upcoming month i'm undertaking a project to write music for a documentary. so this is really a life or death problem for me right now as i can't compose with the peace of mind knowing i won't have...

another problem i'm having is i can't even record audio on this card. i've tried everything i can possibley think of, and i can still not record an audio signal of any...
