    Audio interface

The SP40 actually has 8 pre amps, and for the price it is one of the best interfaces around (if you know what you're doing.) The number of pre amps can and will relate to the number of tracks that you can simultaneously record into your DAW - which should be one of your considerations when...

    All-around Studio monitors?

I'm confused by this statement? I say that because most reasonably priced studio monitors have excellent 'low' range sound output, but if you want booming bass, you'll likely need a sub-woofer - especially if you're producing modern hip-hop or electronic music that is bass heavy. Moreover, if...

whats the best usb mixer for home karaoke for under $500?

I'm going to have to agree with the others, any mixer over $150 for just karaoke is plain overkill. That is, unless you plan on recording a band or something as well. If that's the case you would need a pretty beefy mixer to achieve quality results anyway as the budget mixers are pretty hit or...

    All-around Studio monitors?

Very nice studio setup you have there! Truth! I have a degree in Computer Engineering from a 4 year college, and I'm currently going for my masters, but I also have a 2-year certificate/degree from a trade school in Electronics. Believe it or not, the information learned at the trade school...

    All-around Studio monitors?

No problem! Hard to answer to be honest with you, (perhaps someone with more knowledge can chime in...) But, from my experiences with home studios, you'll want to find a subwoofer that will pair nicely with your monitors (within brand seems to be the norm for best results.) Additionally, your...

    All-around Studio monitors?

Take a look at the, iKey Audio M-505V2. From what I can tell, they have pretty good reviews for 'all-around' purposes. The monitor focuses on being a hybrid replacement for stereo speakers and takes into account loudness and maintained clarity. Just note bass though, as with ever monitor you...

Lol, I'm with you - gotta stay within your budget I guess... Even if it does mean roughing it with a xenyx. :)

What's the cheapest Cubase version u can buy for a Mac?

I was going to suggest a usb mixer, but being a former xenxy owner- I really don't like the preamps for recording vocals.

Glad we could help you figure it out! :D

What's the cheapest Cubase version u can buy for a Mac?

The MR816csx is a moderately high-end piece of hardware and just using it for singing is kind of a waste of money if you ask me. If you're spending that type of money, and you're only singing, (aside from the UR22) take a look at the Scarlett Studio bundle. It has a mic, xlr cable, headphones...

    Audio interface

I own 1 mixer and 1 interface. My primary recording interface is my Scarlett 6i6. I also own a Yamaha MW10 (Mixer.) A (usb) mixer and audio interface are essentially the same thing in terms of computer recording. The major difference is with a mixer you'll sometimes have more control over the...

Cubase 7 - VST Window Container in 64-bit Mode.

Guillermo, Thank you for the informative posts! Believe it or not, the 32-bit version of Cubase is fine for my needs right now as I'm only doing 2-track recording anyway. I'm revamping my VST library as well and I figured since I'm still learning cubase, I'll just use free VSTs until I'm...

SM58 to Tascam US-100 to PC-- excessive static hiss noise etc

(Sorry to hijack the thread, but this actually may help our non-responsive author!) Dave, My apologies for the late reply! Yeah, the end connected into the Fast Track was the problematic end so it seems. I did actually troubleshoot the cable further before throwing it out too. It had trouble...

SM58 to Tascam US-100 to PC-- excessive static hiss noise etc

I had a problem with one of my older usb cables with my fast track pro. If I wiggled the cable I would get an increased hiss-type sound out of my headphones and speakers. After changing the cable the problem went away. Perhaps you wouldn't label this sound a hiss, but it did cause some unwanted...

I have, and its annoying as hell!

SM58 to Tascam US-100 to PC-- excessive static hiss noise etc

Yup, aside from the mic, a bad/cheap cable (xlr and usb) can definitely add to the hiss. Make sure your cables are properly shielded, and are not rubbing against other electrical cables, which can definitely cause interference. Also check your USB cable, as a cheap unfiltered cable can also...

SM58 to Tascam US-100 to PC-- excessive static hiss noise etc

Well, the first thing you want to do is determine the cause of the hiss; because it doesn't sound like you're too sure (even when you touch the mic, which causes more hiss.) Here are some things that I'd do to be sure that it is the microphone: 1) Unplug the mic. - Is there still hiss in your...

Cubase 7 - VST Window Container in 64-bit Mode.

Yeah the 64-bit version seems to be a bit buggier than its 32-bit counterpart - its almost like a different program running the same GUI. I didn't even think to check for updates to the VSTs themselves, for some reason I thought Cubase was in total control of its own container sizing.

Cubase 7 - VST Window Container in 64-bit Mode.

Not sure if anyone has run into this problem, but apparently while using Cubase 7 (64-bit) some 3rd party VSTs don't size properly in their window container(s). Also, the window re-size property is locked, so you can't even manually adjust the container. From programming experience, I know that...

Decent mixer at a decent price.

If focusrite is on your radar step up to a 6i6 or 18i8 - I feel that even an entry level producer will outgrow the 2i2 and 2i4 within a few weeks. That said, I personally own a 6i6 and I havent had any problems with drivers causing latency. Additionally, the 6i6+ scarletts offer a different...
