Getting a good guitar solo sound...

Great sound! I'm still green on recording, so let me see if I understood what you guys do: you record the clean guitar and then put all the effects in Cubase? Is this the way you got this sound? Does it work the same way for Cakewalk?

Do not use Cakewalk for anything professional?

Do you really think any station is going to ask how the song was recorded? Where? How long it took? C'mon, let's be real! It's just like Dachy said, if it's good music, they'll play it anyway!

    using reason

What are the advantages of Reason over Sonar XL? I know they can be used togheter, but I don't know the advantages of using Reason instead of Sonar...

    Music notation on digital audio

I really didn't know Finale could handle that. I checked Codamusic website and it says that it can do music notation for non-MIDI instruments, solo and even chords! Great! Those other softs AlChuck mentioned I've never heard about, but the samples on the website seems to be very good! I'm...

    Music notation on digital audio

Don't know if this is the right forum to put this questions, but I'll give it a try. I've been using Sonar 2.0 XL for a couple of months and I'm starting to get some good results. But there's one thing I want to do that I dunno if Sonar is capable of doing so or even if there's another software...

    Cakewalk Vocal Tips?

Awesome thread! Great links and tips! I tested this "double-track-guitars-and-pan-them-L-and-R" trick with my acoustic guitar last night and it is impressive how the sound gets powerful! :) Thanks a lot!

    Simple recording question

Thanks for the help Shana, but the metronome was only an example. I did turn it off, but if I wanted to record a audio track while a midi drum track was playing for example, the drum sound would be recorded along with my guitar! Yes, I know the quality won't be 100%. Notice that I'm not using...

    Simple recording question

Hi, I'm using Sonar 2.0 XL with a SB Live! Platinum 5.1, and I use the mic input to record. When I record digital audio, the metronome sound, as well as any other sound coming out of my pc speakers (i.e.: midi tracks, mp3, etc.) are recorded too. How to set Sonar to record only the sound of...

Why are good rythym players so rare?

I'm with you. What is a great solo on a bad rythym? I've heard some really good solos on terrible songs and they won't get to be heard 'cause the song sucks! If you don't have a good rythtim (not only guitar, but everything) having a great lead guitar won't take you anywhere.

    SoundFont Memory

Thank you very much! I just found in SB web site the explanation of how to set the cache to be used by 'AudioHQ' to load soundfonts!! :) Thanks a lot!

    SoundFont Memory

I'm new to Sonar and I did some tests with Session Drummer and SoundFonts. When I tried to load a SoundFont I got a message saying that there was not enough 'SoundFont Memory' to load it. I got a SB Live! Platinum and I'm running Win98Se with 192Mb RAM memory. When I did it, Sonar was the only...

    SBlive, Mono?!

I have a SB Live Platinum and I didn't have this problem after installing the latest drivers from creative. Sonar still working just like before. Maybe your Windows version. Mine is 98. Instead of rollback to Windows' original drivers, try reinstalling the drivers that came in the cd with your...

Even if it sounds good... it's a terrible visual!!! I don't think that anyone would use such guitar on the stage!

    Mic amp?

That's ok. As I said I'm a fresh guy and I'm just starting on recording so I don't need a very expensive gear at this moment, maybe later and I'm full of stupid questions. For now I'm just fooling around the soft functionalities so I just have a few mocks not a good project that I could send...

    Mic amp?

I gotta an Epiphone Les Paul Standard with a Zoom 2020 pedal and I use no POD but yes, the sound is quite good. I'll try micing the amp to see and compare the results. Thanks for the tip. Keilson, I know SB is not the best soundcard but I guess we're talking about home recording, and imop SB...

    Mic amp?

I'm new on recording and I took a look at previous posts so now I have my first question. I have Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 and my soundcard is a Sound Blaster Live! Platinum 5.1, which is pretty good. I got a great sound when I record directly on the computer instead of mic my amp. What are the...
