    Re: My DMT 8VL

I have the DMT-8. Depending on your soundcard inputs, I believe you can either run the digital mix out of the DMT-8 via S/PDIF optical into your pc if you have that type of input on your soundcard (or use a converter if you have S/PDIF coaxial) or run an analog mix out of the DMT -8 into your...

    CD burning software for XP?

My new Dell PC with XP came with Roxio's EZ CD creator 3.x and I since "upgraded" to 5.0 for $70 bucks or so, primarily to use the jewel insert capabilities. Well, the jewel art function worked ok but it uses a proprietary file format so you dont get a jpg or bitmap file to submit your art to a...

    Getting the run around....

Yesterday I received my mastered CD from Sjoko. I appreciate his giving us home rec'rs this opportunity. Unfortunately, because of communication breakdown, it took on a life of its own. Hopefully, now this thread will die and fadeaway. Best of health to you Sjoko. David

    Getting the run around....

Hey Squashboy, I began the Sjoko2 mastering offer scam post and I am in the same boat as your friend/client and have been waiting since August for the finished product. I heard from Sjoko on 11/14 via email and from the email he seemed to be working on my CD. I have not heard back since then...

    Sjoko2's mastering offer scam

Did anyone submit anything to Sjoko in response to his offer to provide mastering for homewreckers back in July 2001? I sent him material in August and after him cashing my check for $225 and repeated assurances from him that he would do the mastering, I never received anything back or a refund...

    CD Duplication

I have finished a CDs worth of original tunes which I burned onto a CD-R using MasterLink and now I want 25 to 50 or so copies. I like the idea of the jewel case with insert page and printing directly onto the CD. I have looked around and the minimum order for "stamped" or manufactured CDs...

    MasterLink Users

MasterLink so far Recording a CD is a breeze and can be done in little more than an hour. Of course the mastering part is what takes time, getting the right compression, eq, limiter and normalizer settings to make your mix shine like you want it to. That's where your...

Compression - correct me if I'm wrong

Further Info the DMT-8 is an 8 track integrated recorder/mixer with insert jacks and 2 effect send/returns. First, compressors do not work as effect send/return type signal processors, correct? I have recorded on all eight tracks - there are no free tracks. I initially recorded the bass with...

Compression - correct me if I'm wrong

but compression cannot be added to a track (say a bass track) once the track has been recorded. This may not be true for PC recording, but I'm using a Fostex DMT-8 and use the insert jacks for applying compression while recording the track. Once recorded, the compressor does not react to the...

    MasterLink Users

Thanks for the reply. I am not aware of any limitations but was hoping a user might let me know of any. From yours and the replies on the Alesis page it seems users are most happy with MasterLink. One more question though - does MasterLink write SCMS code on burned CDs so no one can make copies?

    MasterLink Users

Mr. 2Q - I have read all the other posts, but before I laid out the cash, I just wanted final reassurance on the CDs being playable on other machines, since I've read of some standalone-burned CDs not performing on some players.

    MasterLink Users

I'm thinking of getting a MasterLink. Have any users had problems with their MasterLink-burned CDs not working on consumer CD players. Any other problems? Would you buy MasterLink again knowing what you now know of its limitations? Thanks in advance for your response.

    Auditioned Mikes at Guitar Center.....

I too bought one of the CAD400S from Guitar Center after testing it to an Octava and AKG C1000 in the same price range. I thought it sounded better on my voice and new of CAD's reputation. After buying, I tried to find info on it and could'nt so I called CAD. They told me the mike is made in...

    Masterlink

RE -that sounds easy but if one doesn't have a newer PC and does not want to spend the time (and hassle) learning software and making everything compatible on a PC-based system, MasterLink may be the ticket.

    Masterlink

FYI - I contacted an Alesis tech support guy who informed me that the DSP processing is 24 bit, and Alesis has no plans for multiband compressor software upgrade (my question). That said, I'm still considering getting the MasterLink because 1) I record my own tunes and need to make CDs of them...
