Is there any way mathematically to line up a tremolo effect with the tempo of a song? I know some (including myself) often line it up by tapping a pedal. But is there any way to do this mathematically? I would think there would be, and it would be more precise.

Yes it does, but I actually wanted to utilize the on board effects and compression of the Korg. For some reason, it sounds better than what I have on my PC, even though I use the PC for other tasks pertaining to recording. Just to clarify, because I think we're in pretty confusing territory...
