    recording guitar

I think we all need to know a little bit more about how you're currently recording. Are you just plugging your guitar into your comp and hitting record? Are you using a modeler or amp direct in? Do you do multiple takes? Give us more info.

    .....What

Well it's not Bogner's fault but for Line 6 to advertise the versatility of a Line 6 with the tube circuitry of Bogner would lead one to believe some of that signature Bogner power section tone would be there, and it's not. I'm no expert on the electronics of a tube amp but the preamp and power...

    .....What

You want the God's honest truth from someone who used it extensively? If you do it's gonna hurt....a lot. I waited and waited for this amp to come out, just knowing it was going to be theeeee shit. However after cranking it on, letting it warm up and tweaking with it for endless hours it is...

making my dream rig, and i need help.

I would personally completely scrap the dual recto idea. I know it's not the question you're asking but I've done extensive work with dual and have recently had the pleasure to work with both the dual and the new 5:50 express(also by Mesa) and the 5:50 just sounds so much sweeter. It can still...

My new..used Tube amp is always a warm distortion?

I was one of the guys who recommended the tube amp and perhaps I should've told you that you're going to have to maintain the amp. It's not like solid state at all when it comes to maintenance, you're going to have to put new tubes in it every few years or so, and if 60 bucks every few years is...

a BLUE mic for $299 new?!

I would take anything you hear on that site with a massive grain of salt if that's the impression all those mics gave you. Many many people have used those mics with fantastic results.

a BLUE mic for $299 new?!

It's a much more versatile version of a Baby Bottle. Used to be $500, looks like they may be phasing them out.

    Spider III vs MG100HDFX

Did he ever say he had a perfect tone? Perfection is up to the person that's aiming for a certain tone. However harsh and crappy is fairly universal and your tone is a little harsh and just doesn't sit in the mix quite the same way a quality amp would. Once you finally get a quality amp(which...

    2 Grand for a Pre?

Channel strips are usually a mic pre, eq, and compressor all in one box. Some manufacturers have the power supplies built in some dont.

    2 Heads one cab

I'm sure he's already thought about that. The problem there is you're now lugging around 2 80lb cabs instead of one. That becomes a real pain in the ass.

    Spider III vs MG100HDFX

Well I've worked with spiders side by side with quality amps and the differences were pretty damned obvious. I had a buddy with a spider who never seemed interested in borrowing one of my amps for live use(he thought 30 watts wouldn't cut it). One day he called me in a panic because his spider...

    Spider III vs MG100HDFX

Mesa's aren't any more expensive than any other amp in that range. JSX's are between 1300 and 1400 bucks and a comparable Dual Rec is in that same price range. However I will agree the JSX is a bit easier to work with but it's not a "blown away" feeling I get when I compared the two. The...

    Spider III vs MG100HDFX

Sorry to disagree but the line 6 doesn't hold a candle to any mesa or any other tube amps for that matter. The spider is by far the crappiest amp I've ever had the displeasure of recording. Even the spider valve is pretty crappy.

    VibroChamp XD

so is this a real tube amp with digital effects or is this a solidstate amp with a preamp tube thrown in to make people feel better about their purchase? I'm very curious, I'd like to buy this amp but only if it's got 12a's in the preamp section and powertubes in the power section.

Before You Consider an Epiphone Valve Jr, You Might Want to See THIS!!!

You obviously haven't heard their Palamino stuff. Their boutique'ish tube amps actually sound really really good.

    Spider III vs MG100HDFX

I've heard from a couple people that the guy from StaticX uses MG's live. I've recorded one several times and while it isn't the best it certainly isn't unusable. Of the two I'd go with the Marshall, again, not great but IMHO it's far better than the Spider, hell even the Spider Valve blows.

What applications are the Blue Baby Bottle used for?

Disregard the part of my original post about the tube thing, I thought you said "valve" and not "value", my apologies. FWIW though, I think the bluebird is more suited to a wider range of sources than the baby bottle. That's just my personal experience.
