making my dream rig, and i need help.

heres the deal. i'm buying a mesa dual recto, and 4x12 slant cab. i plan on getting a ata case for the head, and have some rack space within the ata case.


withing the rack space, i was thinking something along the lines of a boss gt pro. i need my effects, and boss is the best name out there. not for the amp sims, but for the stomps and effects. i dont know what the limitations of this unit are, - if its just 1 of each type of effect, simultaneously or more. i really dont know. i havent read that much yet, but if someone could clarify that i'd be forever in debt. onto the rest-

i plan on getting some sort of midi foot controller to control the boss, and to control the recto. what kind of device would i need to make that happen?


and finally - what are the different channels on the head? it says 3 channels, and a solo channel, and i really dont know what they are intended for, meaning what each channel is (clean, high gain, etc) i know i sound like a dumbass, but you guys have always helped me in the past. i really appreciate it. i've just stumbled upon a situation, and i'm taking advantage of it, thats all i can really say.

If you have the cash then I would advise against the GT-Pro - I had one and it worked well as a stand alone unit but trying to run it for fx only along with my Triaxis was a disaster. Why not look at something like an Eventide Eclipse for effects? I have a H3000D/SE and it rocks, the only problem would for using it live - there is a noticeable delay between changing presets. I hear G Major is way up there too but have no experience with one...

Just my two cents, and keep in mind I probably won't buy an amp like that until I retire... The only reason I have digital effects in my studio is because I don't have a real amp. If I had your amp, I'd gleefully toss all of my digital effects under a bus. I don't doubt you have different needs than me, I'm just sayin', you know, from the cheap seats.

I would second the TC electronics Gmajor, but.............

Make sure you have a serial effects loop in your Mesa or it just wont be as good as it can be.

The Gmajor will do all your amp switching and effect channel swithcing (just make sure you check into what kind of adaptors you need) simultaniously and is an effects processor only. No pre amp distortions out of this unit, just pure unadulterated effects that wont mess with your Mesa's Tone.

I cant stress enough the need for a serial effects loop in your amp with this or any quality effects processor.

I would personally completely scrap the dual recto idea. I know it's not the question you're asking but I've done extensive work with dual and have recently had the pleasure to work with both the dual and the new 5:50 express(also by Mesa) and the 5:50 just sounds so much sweeter. It can still get that chainsaw sound but also has a really nice clean and a very meaty overdrive that just kicks the crap out of the dual recto(imho). If you haven't played one yet do yourself a favor and find one to play. I know guitar center has them.
