I don't know too much about alternate tunings, except tuning down to B-E-A-D-G-B, but you'll need thicker strings (and I think this can cause bad intonation). Also I think static-x tunes down to C. Don't know if this helps at all.

The reason I wanted 200-300w for my guitar is: I've heard it's better to have more watts than you need - something about higher headroom. I know 100 watts is loud, but i'd like to have the extra 100 or 200 watts there so i'm not peaking out.
