Yessir, that sounds a LOT better :) Stupid myspace....
The quality on "I Miss Yesterday" is pretty damn good too. I like the acoustic side of Only of You
Keep up the rockin man, if you guys get any more tracks recorded let me know. Keep us updated!
I like it man. Not bad sound quality for doing it out of your bedroom. I don't know if it's just myspace compression...but some of it sounds a bit "muffled"? Do you have anywhere you could upload them, so we can get a direct link and then myspace's compression wouldn't be a factor?
I really...
Hmmm, I am on a budget, and that is a good idea....but I know I'll eventually want to edit video on there and get frustrated about having to get a new MOBO.
Let me start by saying that this is the first "electric" song I have ever mixed with drums and all; so, take it with a grain of salt :)
I'm kinda in the middle of mixing it (haven't done much with the drums and need to work on vox levels a bit), but I'm tired and was hoping for some feedback...
I've been wanting to build a DAW/new desktop for a while because I am sick of recording on my damn Pentium M, 5400 rpm HDD, Dell Laptop.
So, how much overkill is this? (I've got spare HDD's laying around as well for more storage...and I know I still need a case and PSU on there)...
Right right I know:
For the preamp...I've heard that the Onyx only gives about 38v instead of 48v with phantom power; so, if needed I was thinking about picking up one of the cheap ($30) ART Tube preamps. Any opinions on those?
And the mixer + soundcard deal is just an idea for the future/next...
It's workin now and soundin nice man. Your voice reminds of Neil Young.
The only thing I could recommend at this point is that at some points the bass hits a bit hard. And yea, ride and snare would go nicely.
I've been doing some ammount of recording for the past two years. A buddy of mine and I made two albums using nothing more than our guitars (Direct out into preamps then into computer), a Shure PG58 (for vocals), an acoustic guitar amp (on the first album), a Peavey powered mixer (on the second...
Wow man, Wow. Just listened to all your songs. Gorgeous.
You have a great voice. As someone else stated it reminded me of Ben Gibbard.
What kind of guitar do you have? I love the tone, perfect for the type of music.
I agree with WhiteStrat as well...I like it how it is: simple, raw...
Well....Bump, and I suppose I'll add some more because no one replied.

Currently I'm at school and looking to get a cheap(ish) portable recording setup that I can use to record acoustic instruments (primarily guitar) and vocals, but that I can expand to eventually record say a 5-piece band.
I will be mixing using software (Reaper).
Currently I have an AKG...
Ahah, I never even noticed that feature....eventually what I did was went into the waveform editor and applied the effect I wanted straight to the wav file (and of course had backups in case I needed to revert to original). This is much easier, lol.
It still doesn't quench my urge to build a...
Well, I woulda thought it would be enough too...but I'm currently using Adobe Audition and when I start applying effects and plugins...everything gets choppy and won't run smoothly
Thank you for that post Hard2Hear (it was a bit more help than your first, haha). I really don't know what I'm doing when it comes to building a DAW...I've put together plenty of systems for gaming and such, but AV is a different world. When I originally said $500, that was just what I was...
I hate trying to do drum parts electronically as well, you spend so much time trying to make them sound real. For me and my buddy's first album we did it sans drums :) Lol, some people didn't like it but hey, we made a grand off it and were able to buy a PA system so...hah
Also, are people...
Funny...I thought people had DAWs before Intel even made Core2Duo Processors...
Also, much thanks to Altiude909 for specifically addressing everything, it's more help than you know, and to beezelbubba for the links and defense :p
Over the past couple days I've thought about it...
This is for my main band Acousticles (linked in my sig).
How many CDs did you sell? We sold our first batch of 200 out in about 2 weeks...then we've never made another large batch, lol...so only about 50 or so after that
Did you have a record company backing you?
Nope, we did everything...
Computer Hardware Questions
Hi everyone, I'm new to these forums and site, and I'm real excited to be here. I'm also slightly new to recording. I've done one 11-track album with my band (2 acoustic guitars and 2 vocals) using Audacity, an Acoustic Amp, and a Soundblaster Live! 24-bit USB...
