Building A DAW...Opinions?

I've been wanting to build a DAW/new desktop for a while because I am sick of recording on my damn Pentium M, 5400 rpm HDD, Dell Laptop.

So, how much overkill is this? (I've got spare HDD's laying around as well for more storage...and I know I still need a case and PSU on there)

Looks good to me! I just recently built a similar one but with a intel dpm35dp mobo and it flies so fast you gotta wear seatbelts

that core2quad will fly. and the gskill ram i hear is very overclockable,if you're into that! especially with a good asus board.

i'm running core2duo e6600 w/4gbddr667 and 512mb nvid 7600gt.

IT flies, heavy with the vsts,,so you'll be fine

Very nice. If budget is an issue you might consider a MicroATX board with integrated VGA and save a couple of hundred, but otherwise very nice.

Hmmm, I am on a budget, and that is a good idea....but I know I'll eventually want to edit video on there and get frustrated about having to get a new MOBO.
