Thank you...I read most all your techical help entries and am learning a lot from you efforts. I am in california. the machine is new in box in UK (the board is not new). I just downloaded an R8 manual from the fostex site and am reading thru it...converting to me is worth it...
hello...yes I am a newbe...please forgive me...but I have a chance to pick up a British fostex r8 and 812. They are 220...Is the 110-115 converter going to outway the cost of the machine...and board or is it worth dealing with?. Thank you.
My Model 20 motor is very weak and slowing down to almost no rotation at all. Do any of you know a good place to buy a used Fostex model 20 motor, or if there is a replacement motor that will work...thanks, the belt is strong...the motor is dying. Its a very good little mixdown unit...I want...
I have a question...did teac or tascam make the 1/4 inch 8 track heads for fostex 8 tracks. Also did they make the 1/2 inch 16 track heads for the B-16,E-16,G-16...the reason I ask is because they are no longer being made, and the tascam 338 takes a 1/4 8 track head, not being made anymore. Is...
r8
I can't answer your technical questions about your R8...I do know this, that, that unit was very influential in the very early 90's. There is almost a "cult" following of people that use R8's today....and forums -only for r8 owners-...do exist....so I guess you are not alone...but may have...
I have an E-8, that is very hard to get parts for,...,so I am looking into buying an r8 or model 80....from your experiance, which has the fatter (better)sound the r8 or the model 80. Thanks
I have an E-8, which very hard to find parts for...I want a smaller Fostex 8 track, in you opinon, which has a "better" sound, the "R8" or the "Model 80"...Thank you.
This are all 1/4 inch 8 track heads...with both the rec/play on one head...has anyone heard that they are the same on all units and can be interchanged.?
Please don't throw in the towel...
I allways read what you write...I am new...to analog...and your comment help guide me. It's kind of like John Mayers 1957 Fender strat. Analog will come back...it will be coveted and saught after...you just wait a little while longer and see...thanks Sir.
thanks guys
The E8 is fine...its the Model 80's I really want to get them up and running, they have a very nice high frequency output...with a good bottom end, as well.
Hello...I am trying to get my Fostex machines up to par...I have two Model 80 and and E8..The head on E8 is fine, but the Model 80's really are worn...what do I do? Search for replacement Model 80 heads or have them re-lapped...I know that heads for Fostex Machines are rare...any advice is...
