    Boom Boom Sub Sub BOOM!

basically, what I wanted to know, is how do you correctly incorporate a subwoofer into your system? How loud is it supposed to be as opposed to your monitors?

Alrighty guys, spent a few minutes on it today, let me know if you like the update. I mixed against a reference track (i dont konw if its good or not, but its Hawthorne Heights wish you were lonely or whatever that song is). Danse Macabre

ha, i never knew that about the tri-tones...I always wondered. Great song man, I'm compelled to think this isn't home recording but a professional piece. Sounds great.

    Rock Song

The fret noises are distracting...Vocals sound good, set well in the mix. Drums sound pretty tight as well, like the snare...the hi-hat open close in the chorus is a little loud (distracting as well). I like the electronic drum action. It sounds like there should be maybe some distorted guitar...

    33 Second Death/Speed Metal!

Seriously, I actually really enjoyed that. The "hi hat" needs to come down. Sweet song though. I hate death metal, but that was pleasurable.

Holy crapstar, thats pretty nice shreddin. I agree, bass is distracting (all midi sounding). Have a buddy throw some hot bass down, and this will kick more ass. Great job man, keep up the good work. I want to hear more!

    Pop tune - Here I go again`

Hey guys, www.soundclick.com/seanscogin Track is Here I go again. My real questions here are: Does anyone have any suggestions for mixing the backing vocals? I have found this to be a daunting task, one with which I am not satisfied. All i did to distinguish it was cut the high end out, put...

    Behringer, a jem or crap?

Behringer makes products cheap, and makes cheap products. But I'm really tired of the gear snobs here. Obviously this is HOME RECORDING. I would venture a guess that 90% of the people here don't have thousands to spend and don't have the time to "save up your money for something better". People...

    Build your own guitar...

I've never built a guitar before, but I did build all of my living room furniture. And the truth is, it costs alot more than buying new (unless you do it for a living, pumping out the same thing weekly). You always underestimate the cost, and you never can forsee everything that goes wrong...

    How important is a producer/engineer??

Well, i think you might've answered your own question. I have seen some engineers take absolute shiiite and turn it into shiiite that doesnt smell so bad. Producers and engineers are around for a reason. They make things better. HAIL THEE, RECORDING ENGINEERS AND PRODUCERS! (Disclaimer: I'm...

    Condenser Mics - Differences

you can check my soundclick page for some of my vocals. I want to have more warmth in them, because as of now, they are pretty cold. www.soundclick.com/seanscogin I Try and Stuck with MTV are good examples. Pulidos is too, as far as a different kind of genre is concerned.

    Condenser Mics - Differences

I'm a little confused. I have a condesnser mic (CAD 195) that uses phantom power, but looks like a regular micropone (as in, live vocal mics). I was looking at other mics (because im not happy with the results of vocal tracking) and most vocal condesor mics have a huge front, a crazy shock...

    Using Fruity Loops

This is the best sample set I've found. http://www.naturalstudio.co.uk/ns_kit7freedownload.html It has different volume sounds (each different hits, not just the same sample turned down). I've found that if you mix it up a bit in FL, and keep the drums separate (as far as only having...

Easiest way to get a DOT COM

I use savinghosting.com. You can get a decent package for $12 a year if you dont host mp3s on your site (outsource that to soundclick or lightningmp3). If you did want to, I think they have a package thats like $3 per month.

    Will work for gear

Hey there ladies and germs. I love this forum; let me say that first and foremost. I also love recording, whether it be at home or in the studio. I also love advertising and marketing, and you can tell that because I graduated from college with a degree in advertising/public relations. I also...

    Making a sticky

Can we make a sticky of the "How do I monitor in CEP/AA?" I know I had that question, and I've seen it a few times since then (actually, there are a couple threads right now. Just thought it might help us noobs navigate the forums a bit easier. Sean

    Studio Monitors - Sort of

Is it possible to use regular home theater bookshelf speakers as monitors? I have a receiver with a 5 band eq on it, and I was wondering if I could offset the regular V curve of the speakers by using that EQ, thereby flattening the sound itself? Or can anyone recommend speakers that have a...
